Summary: Of the alternatives I tried before buying these: Sennheiser high-end pricey sports earphones have average sound, not THAT much better than a standard set of ipod earphones. Adidas&Sennheirser sports earphones have awful sound, worse than the regular sennheisers. Bose sports/portable models don't fit everyone that well and bang & olufsen earphones have no bass whatsoever.

My pros & cons were cut off: Pros concluded that the bass & sound are great, particularly for hip hop/rap and the mic supports newer blackberries. The cons were that apart from incompatibility with overly sweaty people, they do not have much to offer to fans of rock & pre-2005 kinda pop as their main selling point is the amazing bass.
