"Keep an eye out for fakes!"
Pros: Small, lightweight and a solid performer
Cons: Easy to get a fake unit that will underperform
Summary: I had ordered a WEP200 from what I believed to be a good online store, for a steal of a price ($27 + shipping). When it arrived I was just generally displeased with it. I had the same trouble getting it to charge as one of the other reviewers and the range and clarity were lacking. Being my first bluetooth headset I didn't know what to expect.
I read a note on ebay about fakes existing and I started to question mine once I noticed it had some of the telltale signs of a counterfit. These signs are:
No hologram or very shallow hologram on the outside of the package (mine had no hologram)
a stapled manual instead of a bound/glued manual (this is a BIG indicator)
Multiple rubber earpieces, but upon closer inspection they were only one size, not M and L as they should be.
There was also an over-the-ear attachment in the package. Samsung doesn't sell theirs with this. it is NOT an extra bonus or anything like that. In fact, it just said 'bluetooth' on it.
Knowing this I went to Best Buy and paid full price for a genuine article. Upon comparing them side to side it was not too easy to tell the difference, but they were certainly different in performance!
The plastic and everything look almost exactly the same. they even say samsung on the chargers and charging case. What I found to be the real telltale signs in person (besides the manual) was that the charging case for the real samsung had a clear plastic/rubber piece that holds the headset against the charging contacts, where the fake had flimsy black plastic. The fake charger plug also went in further without a definitive locking snap when plugging into the charging case.
My suggestion to everyone that feels you may have received a fake is to return it immediately! This is one case where saving a few dollars will not help you. In fact, I'd say that any price under $50 should be regarded as very very likely to be a fake!
I hope that this will help someone researching this headset, because the difference in quality and performance is huge.
As I said this is my first bluetooth headset so I have nothing to compare the samsung WEP200 to except the FAKE WEP200. However, I have not once had a problem with the real unit and it works very well within 20-30 feet (the fake didn't go further than 3-4 feet!)

Theroyalwe's is correct on all counts on fake Samsung WEP-200 except one. That is and I quote "any price under $50 dollars should be regarded as very very likely to be a fake". There are authentic WEP-200 priced under $50, not alot , but they are out there.
When buying a WEP-200 on the internet use you head. Retailers like BEST BUY, Verizon stores, and others sell WEP-200 for between $79 and $99. Some guy on the internet sells his for $15 or $20 dollars, a difference of around $59 to $79. How is that possible? The retailers can buy in bulk and get the cheapest price possible. The retailers know the business and the price it will sell for. So how can the internet guy sell it for so much cheaper than the retailers? The answer is Fake WEP-200. Fake WEP-200 made in China and not authentic WEP-200 made in Korea. Chinese companies make fake WEP-200 and sell them really cheap as real WEP-200. They can look identical to the real ones. Just go online to ebay and you will see alot of seller of cheap price WEP-200 are located in China. Don't buy from sellers located in China. All there WEP-200 are fakes!!!!! There are also Cheap price WEP-200 sellers located in the U.S., also fakes.
Trust only people/retailers who will give you a money back guarantee that your WEP-200 is authentic. Money back and not store credit or exchanges.I bought a WEP-200 a little while ago from one of those people/store. The person gave me 100% money back guarantee that it was authentic. I received the unit in a couple days and I really love it. It's the best bluetooth on the market by far.

The information in your 'opinion' opened up my eyes. Now I know why I wasn't happy with my Samsung bluetooth. It's a counterfeit! I'm working on getting a refund. Then, I'll buy the authentic product. I'd never have known if I hadn't read this piece.
