"A real users opinion- a lot of hype out there!"

by bulletbobj on October 18, 2006

    Pros: small, sounds fair inside

Cons: voice overamplified, bad sounding in cars

Summary: I am a heavy cell phone user (10-12,000 minutes a month for business). I have always used a cheap Sprint corded headset, everybody says it sounds fantastic and 90% of the time nobody knows I am on a cell phone. I have used the Samsung wep200 for three days and EVERYBODY knows I am on a cell phone.
In quiet rooms I am told I sound good but very loud and they need to adjust their volume.
In three different cars I have driven everybody says I sound bad. My wife refuses to speak to me while I am in the car unless I remove the bluetooth because it sounds so bad.
I have come to the conclusion that there is no bluetooth that compares to corded quality. As for all the other features I really don't care - I just want excellent audio quality on both ends of the call.

I have ordered a Plantronics 510 based on what I have read in reviews, I am hoping those reviews are more truthful on audio quality and not more hype.

Over exaggerated... No body uses the phone 24/7... You need to do other things to.. like sleep and eat.. not to mention other activities. just stick to your cheap chorded headset. You are not credible bro... Just tell them you always use the phone.. dont give the numbers.. you're bad at it... It is still a good bluetooth headset for me .. considering the price and size... it is stylish too.

I'd perhaps look at something other than plantronics. I'm almost certain that no bluetooth really has good sound quality for either the caller or the callee...

If you are interested in Plantronics though, and if you are anywhere near Rola Missouri, there's on on the side of the road... I'm tired of people saying they can't hear me. I'm into these things about 500 bucks..nothing works

I'm not joking; how I look really matters a lot. Chicks dig me when I'm wearing this thing. I wear it in clubs and talk really loud, and people sling me free drinks.

12000 minutes a month: If you use your cellphone EVERY DAY, (which includes Saturday AND Sunday,) of a 30 day month, that's FOUR HUNDRED MINUTES a day. This translate into FIFTY minutes out of every hour, of an 8 hour day, or FORTY minutes an hour of a 10 hour day. If you use it 26 days of 30, that's FIFTY EIGHT minutes each hour in an 8 hour day, and FORTY SIX minutes each hour in a 10 hour day. As the saying goes, "you do the math."

(Just for perspective, if he used his phone 24 hours a day and never, ever slept, it would STILL be SEVENTEEN minutes an hour-and that's 24/7!)

So this is the review you want to base your purchase on? Given 10-12 THOUSAND minutes a month, is the reviewer credible? I'd be more suspicious of THIS review than any of the others, to be quite honest.

Gee, wireless technology. It's been around over 40 years, but call it Bluetooth, make it expensive and wow. I went to CES last year on a quest for a wireless ear bud where both parties are able to hear each other clearly. A year later and the best I can find is still the Voyager 510. My company has tried the top rated 655 and the Jabra 250- Crap & Hype. Manufacturers aren't listening. All we want is good clear sound. What idiot needs a display on an ear bud? If it ain't in your ear it ain't working and if it is you can't see the display. I don't want style. I want function. 2 years running and the Voyager is still the best out there because it does the best at blocking outside noise for the listener on the other end. It's big. It's a bit bulky. It's battery life sucks, but it is the best sounding BT my compnay has found. And it's over 2 year old technology. Sad!
And now after a year's use I have to go buy another 510 because I can't get an 8 hour day out of the battery. Actually, it's never been better than about 6 anyhow. It's a shame that this is the best there is. "But wow, look how small we make 'em now. What's that? You want clear sound w/o ALL the background noise? Yea, right."

i used multiple BT headsets and found that anything small...like this one is impared in sound quality by the design itself.
Jabra BT250 which has a mic that sticks up by the side, closer to the mouth was really good. no one could guess i was using a BT unless i told them or asked them specifically
