  • "Step up from standard headphones, but not great quality"
    on by C-lon

    Pros Great bass

    Blocks out some sound
Sleek design and nice selection of colors
Three sets of cel headphone covers for multiple ear sizes
Small carrying case helps prevent tangles

Cons Parts break easily or fall out (volume adjuster, speaker mesh)
    Price

Summary Although it may seem that the good outweighs the bad, I was disappointed in this product. I heard many great things about Skullcandy products in general, which was the reason I was seeking out their headphones. I have an iPod touch, and the headphones that came with the iPod broke, so I needed to find a replacement. I went to the Apple store where the 50/50 Skullcandy headphones were being sold for $50. It was the cheapest compared to the other headphones around it, but was more expensive than the standard Apple headphones which are about $10 - $15 if i remember correctly. The price tag and reception of Skullcandy led me to believe that these headphones would finally be the ones that would last (I have gone through three sets of standard Apple headphones). It was a step up, but I wasn't expecting the greatest quality of headphones. That is definitely what I felt at first, but once the speaker mesh fell out of the left earbud, I wasn't as sure. Then, the volume adjuster broke, and not long afterward, today, the speaker mesh fell out of the right earbud. I was quite disappointed. In terms of the sound quality, I think it is great, way better than I was expecting. The bass is greatly boosted making music sound much clearer. It's like having surround sound in your ears. I would not recommend these headphones, unless you are very careful with your headphones. I take care of my headphones for the most part, but I don't spend too much time treating them like fragile objects. That seems unnecessary.

  • "For $50, it stands as a less-risky upgrade from stock."
    on by bumstah

Pros -Bass is clear and present.
-Treble is surprisingly clearer than expected.
-Comes with a handy carrying case.
-Sleeker, more daring designs than its cheaper counterparts that may impress some.

Cons -Bass is definitely there, but not clearly defined.
-If your budget allows it, you may want to just invest $50 and get twice the better headphones.
-Not the most durable earphones you'll find.

Summary First and foremost, I don't consider myself an audiophile but I love my bass, so if you're looking to upgrade from stock earphones with a little more bass, look no further. I compared the 50/50 Skullcandy with some stock skullcandys I bought from bestbuy for about $20 on a couple of bass heavy songs (Bulletproof remix by Chrispy, Becoming Insane by Infected Mushroom, Drop it like it's Hot by Snoop). At first, you can definitely notice the bass in the 50/50, it is much more louder and has a prominent presence than stock earphones. The bass delivers boldy (remember to test them on high quality music, perhaps on a CD or an authentic iTunes file, do NOT test on youtube audios unless they are at least 480p or higher).

Using the 50/50s for about an hour, your head may start to ring a bit. You cannot enjoy the bass unless you crank up the volume a little higher than usual, or if you set your audio device (i'm using my pc and iphone by the way) accordingly to your taste.

The bass sounds pretty muddled. I don't know much about highs and lows in bass, but generally all the bass just sounds loud and explosive. Don't get me wrong, if your not anal about all the tiny details of bass, this shouldn't be a problem at all. And in all honesty, even for $50, you can't expect the most crisp quality from the bass.

Alas, the biggest problem of these 50/50s are that, well, they sit at $50. Surely, if you're going to invest $50 in headphones, you might as well pay a couple bucks more and get some higher tier headphones/earphones.

Its difficult, but I loved my $20 Skullcandy and use them for about 2 years. I love their products and I thought I owed them enough to at least try out the 50/50s, and so far it's been enjoyable. If you're like me and your tired of cheap earphones, don't skip out on the 50/50s, it may be nice to try them out before you decide to invest in more expensive earphones/headphones accessory ;)

  • "Nice pair of Earbuds"
    on by JohnnyS101

    Pros -Nice Sound
    -Nice Bass
    -Good Style
    -Volume Control and Mic

    Cons -Fitting
    -Construction

Summary I like these earbuds alot. They come with the earbuds (of course), a small case and 2 other comfort tip sizes (Large and Small). I got these the other day and they are pretty sweet. Good for the price at $50. They are very clear sounding and have a lot of bass. They look nice and you can also control the volume or talk from them. They have a lot of upsides but they also have some downsides. The Large Tips almost never stay in my ear and the medium tips do so aswell but better. I guess its just the way my ear is, but the small tips fit perfectly. For those who dont know why there are different sized tips, it is for the bass, the larger you go, the bigger the bass. The small tips still have alot of bass though. Another thing is the construction, while it does look nice, if you feel the buds or the volume control, you feel cheap plastic. Overall, these headphones are at the top of the list for $50 buds. I got them online at Skullcandy. They also have lifetime warranty so if they have a manufacture defect, you can send it back for free, but if you break them you have to pay half for a new pair or ask for store credit. Great earbuds, best I've ever had. Go get em.

  • "I found the black ones on sale for 24.99 at Seshday.com"
    on by rheestore

Pros Color choices, awesome scullcandy gear for about half of what others have paid for in-ears with a mic. I chose the black and chrome

Cons Fitting is a bit odd but the small ones work for me...might be a bit difficult for people that don't fit scullcandy small med or large buds....Have yet to ride my bike with these but seem more durable than the standard iPhone headphones...

Summary shop around you might find them on sale...i did and it was totally worth it!

  • "Terrible product that will not last you very long."
    on by carddinalr

    Pros Looks cool.

Cons Sound quality isn't all that good. Each ear bud is essentially glued together. I dropped my ipod with these headphones in and one of the ear buds snapped in half at where the silver part meets the color and the wires inside were severed. I tested how stur

Summary Only lasted me one month. Never getting skull candy again.
