"Good Device"
3.5 starson by RMskaterPros: 1) Small
2) Compact
3) Good battery life
4) Clear sound quality
5) Works on iPhone iOS 4, FULLYCons: 1) Not as loud as wired headphones
2) Thin wire
3) Cheap caseSummary: Okay, so I'm writing this review to offset the bad ones.
I had some money to burn, so I figured that I would go out and purchase these headphones straight off from Fry's, while I'm waiting for my eBay ones to come.
On first unpackaging, the device comes with a funny little charger. It's an actual SE charger that ONLY has the charging contacts. Thus, with this in mind, I have a few USB cables for SEs, as I used to dabble in that brand quite a bit.
Well, if the USB cable you get HAS THE CORRECT CHARGING CONTACTS, then it WILL CHARGE THIS HEADSET. I actually performed my first, initial full charge with my USB charger connected to my computer.
And about the iPhone...it will work with the 4.0.2 update (although I'm sure it works with the 4.0.1 and 4.0 update as well).
The volume control works well on these iOS's. Everything works as expected from any other bluetooth headset device. The only thing you can't do is next track and previous track with them. Doing a multi-click will cause you to call the last called person, and holding the button until you hear a small ding (which is not very audible) will activate voice control.
I did not notice a lag when on a call, nor when listening to music, hopping in between tracks, scrubbing (manually locating my place in the music timeline), etc.
CONS:
1) The headphones are great, and yes, a lot of the music quality and sound have to do with how you encode your music. However, I did notice that the magnets in these headphones aren't as powerful as most of my wired headphones.
Either way, in most of my environments, they are at a reasonable volume level.
2) This isn't noticed as most since on most headphones, they have a headband which holds the wire, or with ear buds, the wire streams down in front of you, so it's not really that big of an issue.
However, it's more noticeable on these, because these consist of the earbuds and the wire that connects them. Makes me more hesitant with these, because you can't really bunch them into a little ball and whatnot. Not even close to a deal breaker at all, but just something to note, which makes me slightly hesitant about....
3) The case that comes with them, which as another reviewer mentioned, seems cheap. It is a cool little case, but it does feel very flimsy. Kinda' wish it were tougher, as I feel if I dropped it, it'd crack, chip, or snap. Which is a small point to make, since this case has NO WEIGHT TO IT. The plastic seems that cheap and flimsy.
But until the case does meet its end, I will use it, because it's decent.
OVERALL:
If you're questioning or hesitant, and can get these, then get them. They are a good set of headphones, and you'll enjoy them. They definitely will free you from your wires. Just don't forget to charge them, haha.
