Now that many states have hands-free calling laws, many cell phone users are considering Bluetooth speakerphones for their cars. They're often easier to use than a Bluetooth headset (as long as you don't mind your passengers listening in on the conversation), and the call quality is often better too. We liked the BlueAnt Supertooth 3 especially, but if you want something more affordable, the Technocel T6000 may be a better option. The T6000 has the typical Bluetooth speakerphone features, plus it has a built-in LCD screen, and the capability to store phonebook entries. The T6000 is available now for about $43.
The Technocel T6000 has a pretty industrial look, with its thick and bulky oblong shape and black and gray tones. It has a large 2.5-inch diagonal LCD screen in the middle, and you actually flip the screen out to power the unit on. To power the speakerphone off, you flip it back down. When you first power it on, it automatically goes into pairing mode, which makes pairing easy. The monochrome screen shows incoming caller ID, battery strength, signal strength, volume level, Bluetooth connection, and whether the mic is muted.
To the left of the screen is the microphone, and to the right is the speaker grille. Underneath the display are the End, the 1-Touch, and the Talk key. The 1-Touch key can be mapped to one specific phone number, and you can program it to any number. On the bottom of the speakerphone are a headphone jack, a jog dial that also acts as a volume rocker, and a charger jack. On the back of the T6000 are strong magnets, to which you can attach a metal visor clip that you then clip on to your car's visor.
