  • "So dependable Apple stores take them back after 2-3 mos"
    on by Sexcess1

Pros Great look, great sound, stylish, sleek

Cons You lose volume in one ear in about 2- 3 months, usually the right (side with the mic). Thankfully Apple knows and will accept a return well after the 14 days!!

Summary I bought the V-MODA Vibe Duo Earphones/Headset for my new 3G iPhone on 8/8/8 and on 10/4/ I lost volume to the right ear. I had to wiggle with the cord right at the base to hear something, which is not cool when you've spent $299 on a phone that you paid $399 for 9 months earlier (another story) and another $100 for headphones!!! So I took them back today and the sales associate told me, "You know we don't normally do this since its past the 14 days, but as a courtesy..." Yeah ok I should not have to replace $100 headphones every 60 days!!!! Especially when I'm unemployed.

  • "INFERIOR QUALITY! Had TWO fail within weeks! JUNK!"
    on by Ed Moose

Pros average sound quality, decent noise cancelling

Cons driver will fail like clockwork, overpriced, no legitimate warranty

Summary I've tried two pairs of these in the past eight months and BOTH have had failed (right) drivers. To make matters worse, you will NOT be refunded, as the warranty implies. They'll be happy to repair or replace them with an equally inferior item.

While the sound is decent, unless you expect to drop another $100 every couple of months, steer clear of these pieces of crap. Like many who've experienced the same mistreatment, I too am mystified at how V-moda stays afloat, unless it's subsidize somehow through other equally dubious dealings.

My advice: DON'T BUY V-MODA unless you can afford to plunk down $100 every couple of months. THE VIBE DUO IS COMPLETE AND UTTER GARBAGE.

  • "Great sound for iPhone but broke after 2 months"
    on by DC Kundera

Pros Ear comfort, good bass and clarity, highs weren't shrill

Cons Left side went mute after only two months of use

Summary I really liked the v moda earbuds, which I used with a shuffle and an iphone. They were much more comfortable than shure and other products I tried, and I liked the sound. However, the wire that goes into the phone plug does not have a rubber cover to shield the wires from being pulled around, and I soon heard scratching sounds, followed by no sound in the left ear. For $100, I would expect these to last much longer.

  • "Nice sound- broke after 16 days"
    on by apropos

    Pros Look good, sound good

Cons $100 earphones - broke after 16 days

Summary It's a recurring theme with the V-mode duo headphones. The left earphone goes out shortly after purchase. For me, it was just after the time I could take them back to the Apple store. Someone I work with has gone though three pairs of them (all under warranty). V-moda has had mine for a week and I haven't heard a peep from them. Do not buy these headphones.

    Updated
They have updated them since this review - it now has a call answer button. Mine broke within 16 days of purchase and it has taken V-Moda over a month to get me a new pair. I have a friend that has had his replaced 3 times since November. DO NOT BUY THESE HEADPHONES, unless you want to spend $100 on headphones that will surely break and take forever to replace! I wonder if the month that my headphones spent in their warranty center will be added back to my year warranty?? Any class-action laywers out there?

  • "Updated V-Moda Vibe Duo"
    on by gookymofo

Pros Excellent bass and sound clarity

Cons almost on par with the E2C's from Shure; some users may find the included silicon fittings uncomfortable

Summary Since CNET's review, the editor's at ilounge.com had announced there was an update to the Vibe Duo that are now being shipped and sold at the Apple Store. the updated version now includes a button on the microphone that will now control the phone answer and iPod play/pause/advance forward function.

this headset has excellent sound quality compared to the Apple headsets that came with the iPhone. there are frequencies that are now heard that you usually do not hear with the Apple headsets. the bass is truly rich and thick on these sets. however, the bass maybe a tad too thick that true audiophiles may be disappointed that the sound may not be as clean as it would be with the Shures (which did an excellent job of balancing out the bass).

the silicon ear pieces (comes with two sets of three sizes - S, M, L - white and black sets). some users may not feel comfortable with the silicon fittings, but i found it just fine. this does not totally block out sound (the Shure headsets are best at these), but it does a much better job than the Apple headsets; it also stays in the ears better than the Apple headsets for people with large ears (like mine).

the cord is awesome and made of some acrylic/nylon material which is good at not tangling. the price tag is slightly high, but audiophiles that don't want to spend the expensive price tag of the Shures (nor wait for the Shure iPhone answer mic adapter), this updated Vibe Duo is worth it.
