"Best bang for the buck"
4.0 starson by yarnekPros: Solid cradle for iPod; excellent sound quality
Cons: Long, ugly connector/bracket
Summary: If only it wasn't quite so ugly!
I couldn't decide between this item and the Monster iCarPlay Wireless Plus, so I bought both. If you could combine the good features of each, you'd have a real winner.
While I like the fact that the TransPod creates a good solid mount for the iPod (so you don't have to fish for it at the end of a cable), you do have to unplug your earphones to use it. I sure hope the earphone jack doesn't wear out! Transmitter is also stationary, so you don't have to "hunt" for the best place to put it like the iCarPlay. I also wish it would cradle my iPod nano better because I have a rugged rubber case on it, and it just barely docks. I haven't had it jump out yet, but the streets in my city will definitely put it to the test. It's great that it powers itself off because I'm always worried my iCarPlay will run my battery down.
The bracket is something that's just plain ugly. Plus, it's very long. As other reviewers have said, you will have to put up with watching the whole thing bounce up and down while hoping it doesn't break. I'm trying to use mine by just hooking the lighter adapter directly to the cradle and not using the articulating joint, but I can't get it into an easily readable position. Hey , DLO! Can you give us a swivel adapter that will hook up closer to the lighter adapter?
All-in-all, I find myself using this product more than the iCarPlay, so that one goes in my wife's car.
