  • "Great Projector if taken care of!"
    on by omarmrza

Pros Excellent Quality. I have watched a few blue rays on this projector and they are absolutely amazing. 10/10.

HDMI and VGA connectivity. Works well with PS3. Make sure you run it on 720p as its not a 1080p projector.

Cons I have heard this projector heating up. I never had that issue. Dust blobs can be a pain if stuck in the projector lens. Be careful and make sure your projector is installed in a dust free zone.

Summary I absolutely agree with canucknucklehead! The dust does get stuck in the lens due to cheap packaging of the lens and hence the (Pixel like)"weird dots" start appearing on your screen. YES! They will replicate and take over your screen. I can tell you guys the reason behind it.

I have been smoking pretty close to the projector. There is a blower in front of the projector which is meant to blow all the heat out of the projector mostly built by the bulb. On the left side of the projector are vents which suck the air in. There is a small soundless fan which does that. While smoking, I saw the smoke being sucked by the front lens and thought that to be normal. It wasn't. Slowly that smoke started building up inside the lens in the shape of dust particles. I don't know how the hell it got through the air tight lens. But anyways, I am about to disassemble the projector as its only been used for 200 hours or so and out of warranty. GREAT!!! Also if you guys wanna fix the projector with the same problem i have, try AVS forums.. There is a tutorial from this guy about how to fix this problem. Last thing, i kept my projector on the floor (carpet) which is really not a good place to put it. There are always dust particles in the carpet which also get sucked by the projector. Wish me luck!

  • "Projector wont last"
    on by canucknucklehead

Pros Bright vivid colors. Low price. HDMI input.

Cons Lack of an air filter. Poor customer service and customer support. If this is your first projector make sure you're not sensitive to the rainbow effect that DLP projectors produce.

Summary I bought this projector about 6 months ago for my kids to play video games and watch movies and after about 800 hrs of trouble-free use the projector, it started giving an intermittent 'colorwheel failure' message that wouldn't allow it to start up. What happened was that dust was building up inside the projector on a sensor that prevents the colorwheel from starting up if there's too much static electricity on it. Anyway, Acer fixed the colorwheel failure problem, but they they blew the dust off the sensor and onto some of the internal optics (probably with a can of compressed air, though Acer wont specify how they did it and they wouldn't send me a service manual after they told me to clean the optics myself). Well as soon as I got the unit back from Acer, I sent it back to them, and they sent it straight back to me saying that they tested it and that the video quality was within specs. At this point I called Acer again because, whatever way they used to test the video quality it wasn't good. After talking to two layers of technical support I was transferred to someone in 'corporate customer care'. He ended up saying that the dust inside the projector was my problem because the manual says that I'm not supposed to operate it in dusty environments. I said, "It wasn't operated in a cement factor or a coal mine, it was operated in a home with an electrostatic air filtration system". Anyway, he stood his ground and I figure that it's his job to look for any way he can to deny a claim. But that brings me to the real problem with the projector: the lack of an air filter on the unit makes excessive internal build up of dust inevitable.

Pros Bright , Crisp, works with 3d

Cons Only worked for 10 days.

Summary This is MY SECOND PROJECTOR. My first was a Optoma ep719h. It still works but i have sold it to help pay for the new Acer h5360. I bought it on April 21 2010 and tried getting help from acer on the 1st of May. Purchase price was $727.39 after tax with a life span of ten days if figure i rented it for 72.73 a day.
