"amazing hd display but under performs with analogue signals" on by ngkou11

    Pros: hd performance

Cons: bad s-video and component process including internal upscalling

    Summary: hi guys,

very interesting what u are saying. I ve been using an Infocus X1 800x600 for the last 3years watching DVDs 575p in Europe and digital sattellite - picture and colours are great ! (2 times distance of the screen width).

A month ago i was tempted to upgrate my projector to an Optoma HD 70 (1280x720). I tried hd signal (VGA) and the picture was amazing !! However, i tried to watch my dvds (component) and the picture was not better than my old infocus x1 ! Digital sattelite tv (component , svideo)was appalling with the Optoma !!! even in native mode where no upscaling takes place, u can see artifacts and pixels especially in fast movements !

biersy is so right to say " Wvga,or 854x480, projectors are perfect for DVD's, because that is their native resolution. The projector doesn't have to do any scaling to the input, resulting in a cleaner image"

But what should I do ??? I need a projector capable to display good pictures both hd and analogue video signals... :(

I am the winning bidder of Infocus 7205 in link bartok suggests. This projector seems to have good upscalling circuit. Do you think this projector will satisfy me ?? is it worth the money around 1200 dollars ? 7205 has so many problems with the bulb mentioned on this forum.

What do you think of the video convertors/ scallers (like gefen @ around 400dollars)? are they doing a good job so that you can watch digital satellite on 1280x720 displays?
