"Unreliable" on by Optoma Owner
Pros: Picture vs Value
Cons: Unreliable!
Summary: I've owned an HD72 for almost a year and a half, and was very happy with it until the lamp started turning off after only 30 seconds or so. Web research turned up many other users who have the same problem with their units, and with this info I was able to get warranty service. The projector worked for only THREE MONTHS before it broke a SECOND TIME in exactly the same way as before. I am not the only person with this problem but it seems that Optoma would rather cover up their design flaws rather than recall a defective product. Before you buy this projector, make sure you read other user's complaints on this thread:

"Perfect!! Exactly what I wanted!" on by dhbarnes124
Pros: Very simple to set up. Pretty much plug in cable and turn on. Great color. Better than theater picture.
Cons: None so far
Summary: This is the best picture you can imagine. It is great to sit down and watch a movie in a personal theater. The unit is extremely affordable. If your room has the depth I strongly recommend going with projection and the HD72.

"Awesome picture and great price" on by tjamison
Pros: Easy to set up; excellent picture quality; excellent price point
Cons: None that I can think of
Summary: This is an awesome projector. I set up my media room with a 100" screen and decided to get this while waiting for the price to drop on 1080P projectors. I have it hooked to a Toshiba HD-DVD (A1) and Fios HD, and the picture quality is awesome. I did find that I needed to adjust some of the settings during calibration (using one of the Calibration DVDs that are available). I was excited about a projection system to begin with, but did not imagine that the HD72 would be as good as it is. Count me as one happy customer.
