  • "Nice product. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SUPPORT>"
    on by paco10001

    Pros Nice product over all.

Cons Unit broke down after a few months. It has been more than two months now and I have not yet received the repaired product.

Summary I wanted to give this product a good review. I like the convenience and efficiency of a projector in such a small package. However, after only a few months of use, the HDMI mini-port on my projector ceased operating.

I was initially impressed by the responsiveness of technical support. They sent me the necessary forms immediately so that I could send my unit in for repair. On Jan. 9, they told me it would take a few weeks to repair. After I called for an update on Jan. 31, they said the replacement part would be arriving in a week and that the unit would be repaired immediately.

It is now Feb. 22 and, in response to another phone call I made, they sent me the exact same message they sent me on Jan. 31.

So, if you intend to use this projector as an integral part of your business, and expect that you cannot be apart from the unit for any length of time, my suggestion is that you purchase another product or choose another manufacturer. The Optoma folks don't seem to understand the importance of technical support.

  • "Best for home videos and perfect for HD movies/videos"
    on by makbari

Pros All kind of connections you may need. good picture and best of the line with 50 lumens brightness (with main power adaptor)

Cons unable to get advantage of USB charging while projecting. very light. battery quality/life very low. some people complaining white dots on the display after some times. (i'm using it since August 2011 and no such complain)

Summary this gadget completed my "personal electronics" collection. you can connect almost anything with a video output to this pico projector. I have tried my DSLR camera with HDMI port, my computer by both VGA and HDMI, TV, Receiver, Portable Media Player and Finally Flash Drive. the only thing it could not run was external hard drive using its own mini-USB cable. that i believe is due to power need of the hard drive. picture quality slowly changes as you go for bigger screen. with 120" it plays watchable HD movies. it has all necessary settings you may need through for adjusting your desired brightness/phase/signal length and contrast. in a room with a single window (not directed to the screen) the text is readable with under 100" displays. but still that would not be sufficient for classroom use. I enjoy watching HD movies flawlessly on a DIY screen of ~120" made of light gray low gloss fabric. the only issue with large display is that if you focus on the center of the display, you may loose focus on corners. but still its not really noticeable with motion pictures. its one my few personal electronic devices that i'm not planning to replace/upgrade for some years. its fun having it.

  • "Awesome for mini-home-theater feel"
    on by 100shibshib

Pros + very portable to take to a friends house to hook up a PS3 or laptop and play a game or watch a movie with a theater feel
+ accepts all types of input

Cons - need to have a good set of speakers to connect to it to get a good feel of the image.
    - too light so it will tip over when u have all the wires plugged in and a cheap tripod. (a good tripod will fix that)
    - needs "NO" light to see good pic quality

Summary I like it because its easy to plug and play any sort of input device and immediately get a home theater feel. Can easily be taken overseas without paying customs on a huge flat screen. Major disadvantage is it is hard to find a remote for it.. if you can find one BUY it! its well worth it.

I love it... have it hooked up with a mini computer and have a control/keyboard and a 2.5 pair of speaks all costing less than $700 and i get a full feel of a theater every time i use it.
