"Bright, sharp, outstanding picture"4.5 starson by rich486
Pros: power zoom & focus; superb picture, easy setup
Cons: none that I can think of
Summary: Have had this PJ about 1 month. Rebuilt my theater room around this PJ. Previous one was a Barco CRT monster (16 years old). Chose this one after extensive web search of all reviews and am not disappointed. The PJs features blew me away: power zoom and focus. Full, one screen lens shift up-down; left-right!! Easy to follow onscreen menues, very bright image (am watching most programs in "normal" color composition (there are about 7 presets to choose from) and "eco-mode"--a reduced power lamp setting which is plenty bright for my room (no windows and a Steward 1.3 gain 120" 4:3 aspect screen). Because of my 4:3 motorized screen, which I didn't want to junk, I selected this PJ because of it's power zoom feature. This feature allows you to position the PJ at a distance which will fill to the sides a 16:9 or other widescreen aspect, yet, when the aspect ration is 4:3 and there is BLACK around the entire image, you can take the remote and FILL THE ENTIRE SCREEN with the 4:3 image. The High Def Blu-Ray and HD TV images make the hair on your neck stand up at first, the picture is that good. No pixalization and excellent contrast. Standing next to the screen with the remote to focus is a real PLUS. The many color control adjustments via the inner menues leave me confused with their "oscilloscope RGB" tracings and many arcane adjustment possibilities -- enough to keep a true electrical engineer happy. Me? I just set it on "normal" and it's a great picture. Can't wait for the Olympic Opening Ceremony in Hi Def!! My neighbor who has a Marantz DLP is jealous, he can't believe I have the lamp set on the lower, "eco" power setting. You won't be disappointed with this PJ. I don't think there's anything in this price range to compare with it. Other than the rather complex sub-menues, which you really don't have to deal with, I can't think of any faults with this PJ.
