XGA ,HDTV with component 3 yr warranty 1 yr express exchange .1 yr lamp . free lamp rebate, 3500 hr lamp at full 2300 lumens whats not to like , i have a Panasonic ax200 thats has a better picture but its on its second lamp at 1300 hrs in eco mode . i dread replacing its lamp at $350 bucks! the viewsonic has a very good HD picture when on comcast HD or PS3 using the components , its got great color and is pretty sharp , its plenty bright at 2300 lumens . you can also leave it on high lamp at 2300 lumens and get 3500 hrs 34db fan noise or switch to eco and get 4000hrs at 32db, i leave it on high and get a bright 90 inch screen, its good projector that you can afford to run all day without the lamp timer blues. im a a sound and video pro and use this projector in the kids game room . nobody noticed i switched out the Panasonic AX200 with this viewsonic, they dont see the difference , i use the panasonic 6 hrs a week ,they use viewsonic 6 hrs a day , the one major weekness is its slightly noisy if your too close. its plenty good for your first projector good video. my first panasonic ax100 spent most of its life in the shop , this viewsonic warranty is the best you can get bar none. good projector ,not a $1250 pana AX200 but this viewsonic is an Excellent value at $579
Have a slight overheating problem with this projector it goes into over temp when its been sitting and off ,its cold but goes right into over temp . the real problem is Vieswonic warrranty Dept , contacted for a 2 day express return and was told to return to Comp Usa since its only 27 days old ,then Comp USA wont exchange it because it is missing the Bar codes on the box because i sent them for lamp rebate , back to viewsonic to be told it would be 14 days til they had one to exchange it for ! Bull ^*^$%^ i say ! the warranty states 2 day express turn around from the phone call, i refuse to accept 14 day turn around and insist on on the 2day , he jerks me around for 20 minutes and then says well fax us the invoice to prove warranty and we will get back to you in a few days , well cant i send you an attached email with invoice in it ? no you must Fax it . there is no email adress to send it to just phone contact , so dont beleive viewsonic warranty will be any good thy are total jerks ! i still dont have an RMA or a working projector DONT BUY VIEWSONIC PRODUCTS ! i got this projector because i wanted a no bull warranty , the viewsonic express exchange program is a fraud !!!
this is an update , viewsonic really dropped the ball when i wanted an express exchange but they did come through in the end with a 3day turn around with a brand new projector , it took 5 days to ship to the west coast and 5 days to ship back but the turnaround was 3 days, they paid shipping both ways.
Updated on Jan 21, 20091290 hrs on hi lamp mode still bright and strong .no issues
Updated on Feb 4, 2009POS . color wheel is open to cooling air stream gets coated with dust .started seeing spots in the picture kept getting worse opened to clean andf it appears it was a reman projector was promised new i ! the first one i had lasted 3 weeks . this one was suppose to be a new one. should have known when they didnt return the org box i sent it in ! if you have a filterless design you cant have the color wheel exposed to the constant dirty air! look in an optoma or better brand and you will see a window in the lamp compartment that seperates the air cooling the lamp from the color wheel , the optics are not really sealed had dust on the DMD also ! AVOID THIS PROJECTOR & Viewsonic
