The receiver is fantastic, Denon is the best brand for this no question. The speakers are pretty good, sure there are better ones but these are more than fine. I've got my PS3 and Xbox 360 connected through HDMI to the receiver, my TV to the receiver via Optical TOSLink, and my Media PC audio connected through S/PDIF. This setup works great for movies on any medium. The 8 inch subwoofer is also fantastic, its such a smooth and capable bass it sounds like a professional home theater.
It will definitely take you some tweaking to get the audio just right but on the Denon its really easy.
I have the front left and right speakers mounted on the wall because they are so large they won't really work on many speaker stands (they are about 12 inches tall and way 4 lbs) so take that into account when buying this system.
This is a great deal on a system; I got this at JR.com for 285 with free shipping so it was ultra cheap. Don't scrimp on the speaker wire (I'd say 14 gauge is recommended, 16 gauge at least) and you will love this system!
