  • "Great sound quality..... when it works"
    on by TR_Young

Pros Sounds good, nice remote control, relatively good price.

Cons Constantly disconnects from my LG 47LD450 and the 'home theater' volume will not work. I have to turn it off and back on 2 or 4 times to get it to reconnect. Every few minutes, a series of 2 or 3 loud pops will sound from all 5 speakers.
    If these things

Summary When the unit works correctly, this is a great surround sound system. Unfortunately, I live so far away from where I bought it that I never took it back to have it replaced. Now it's out of warranty.

  • "have had audio problems"
    on by agw805

    Pros Picture quality is good.

Cons sub standard audio quality and hardware

Summary Very dissapointed that the Center and Rear L and R speakers do not work 90% of the time (with Audio CDs, FM and AM radio) Probably unrelated, but you supply THE cheapest speakers and 4 miles of THIN wire (what is it? 28 guage?) Too much hassel to box up and return for warrenty. Will have to use as a 2.1 instrad of the 5.1 speaker system I paid for ($349).
Have a LG LE425400 LED LCD TV and LG dryer, but I think this will be the last LG product I buy.

  • "best for the money"
    on by Waltd1966

Pros East set-up, great features, easy menu to use, built in wifi

Cons The speakers are just okay

Summary I was looking for a HTIB system on a limited budget and narrowed it down to two choices. The Sony e570, or the LG lhb535. I am so glad i made the LG pick.
After opening the box, everything was labeled for ease of the set-up, the wires were color coded and each wire had a mark for positve and negative. It didn't take long to have the system up and running. It found my wireless internet without a problem and it only took another couple of minutes to run through the set-up to adjust the speakers. It has 3 hdmi ports (one out, 2 in) -- i Had to buy the hdmi cable and and optical cable for the cable box. but i don't know of any HTIB that comes with either of those anyway.
The first time i played it i was hooked. It sounded great, especially the radio which makes it great for parties. We hooked up netflix and even though it didn't sound as good in movie mode it still was much better than just the tv speakers i had before. If your looking for one of these systems just make sure you buy one made after june 2010 as i have heard of earlier mdoels having a pseaker whistling problem.. i Got this at best buy for $355 and for the money it just can't be beat. The Sony might have better speakers, but from what i know it isn't as user friendly as the LG and i don't know how it would have meshed with my panasonic tv.

Bottom line -- If you want something thats easy to set-up and use and sounds good this is what you want.

  • "Can be top notch home theater"
    on by yankeescrimshaw

Pros Great receiver..HDMI 2 in 1 out,,uses standard speaker wires,,built in wifi and blu-ray..okay power

Cons The front and center chanel speakers are very low quality .. Use good speakers and this receiver will knock your socks off

Summary If you look hard, you can find this new for under 300.00..Built in wifi, and blu-ray thats a steal.
I bought this knowing that the speakers were trash.. I had a set of energy speakers and powered sub.Using the lhb535 and the energy speakers made the best system going..3-d is all advertising hype..There's maybe 3 minutes or less of 3/d on a 2 hr movie.
Blu-ray picture via hdmi is excellent, but so is netflix hd...

  • "Decent Player, works well"
    on by jobenso

Pros It's an all in one solution.

Cons Speakers and amplifier could be better.

    Summary ***UPDATE***

    Firmware update for LHB335, LHB535, LHB975

    1. Reason of change
This firmware is disabled "Audio watermark" DRM

    2. Version : HB.8.31.300.C

This is the new Cinavia DRM that has all the PS3 owners in a uproar, if you download anything from the net and it has the 'watermark' the audio will be disabled. If you upgrade you will be not be able to watch new mkv,avi,avcd,wmv,mp3,vob,ect... copies from the net.

This is pretty nasty stuff, all network enabled blu-ray players will be getting this (lg).

    Be warned!

    *** UPDATE ***

I got this HTIB with my LG 50PK750 TV, it's was free. So I can't complain about the price, as a all-in-one unit it's pretty solid. I'm using the passive sub that was included, it has enough bass. I've read that the speakers suck, I had a set of Fluance Speakers that I bought and never really hooked up. So the factory speakers were replaced, keep that in mind if you are getting this. I've seen deals online for other speakers bundles and this could be a way to make this HTIB acceptable.

The receiver has a built in ipod dock and a bluray player. Both are cheaply attached, but they work well. The WIFI/DLNA/Media Player features is what set this HTIB apart from the others. I use a media server, Twonky (I believe something was included in the TV, nero's stand alone media server). The receiver is DLNA so playing my existing media was a easy, it plays MKV files and that's what most of my collection is. Over WIFI playing 720p video is no problem, so if you download broadcast TV shows it's not an issue watching anything (I don't condone piracy). I use a wired connection now, but wireless worked good.

The GUI sucks, at times it too slow. I switched to list mode, it makes things a little faster. I have seen it update it self, once its connected to the internet it will check for updates. I wish the TV would do that. The apps of the receiver are solid, Pandora is cool and the other built in applications work good.

Inputs are fine, it has two HDMI and a bunch of analog inputs. I have it connected to a Motorola STB, it switches between inputs with no lag or issues. I've read of problems with other TVs, it does have a system link feature (but my TV is LG, so it's supported).

If my TV wasn't hooked up to cable (or I should say a STB) I could use the included remote to control the TV and HTIB. I do wish it had separate input buttons for its inputs, having to use the GUI is lame (my harmony remote would work better). The remote is not back light or universal, that's weak.

I think you would have a hard time finding something that's ALL-IN-ONE that does what this unit does. It's a good offering, just keep in mind it's a HTIB and not separate components. For the price I paid (nothing) it was a pretty sweet deal.
