"Great 5.1 system and features for the price"
Pros: Total cost was under $300. Excellent receiver with many connections for audio (3 digital). Subwoofer sounds great. Quite a few listening modes. Up running with cable and dvd in about 30 minutes. Ipod capable
Cons: No hdmi input/out (not a big issue for me)
Summary: I had considered the HT-S5100 but really didn't need the hdmi pass-thru after all I read. Additionally, the speakers were larger in that system and even the 3100 speakers are a bit tall. I picked it up on sale at Circuit City before that game ended. I really didn't want a system with a built in dvd player that wasn't Blu-Ray (I don't want two dvd players) and I really wanted a decent receiver to handle tv, dvd, cable, and am/fm. This thing even does tape, vcr, etc. I would definitely take a look at it. I haven't set up all 5 speakers yet, hopefully one day. Even without all 5 speakers up and running this still kicks compared to the TV sound.
Speakers were slightly taller than I have liked - they overlap about an inch at the top to the bottom of the TV screen
