Manufacturer description
If you want an idea of where Onkyo's home theater packages are heading, the HT-S5200 is well worth checking out. Like previous Onkyo 7.1-channel receiver/speaker packages, the HT-S5200 delivers reassuringly hefty amounts of power and all-round performance. And in line with other recent offerings, it's also perfectly suited for high-definition entertainment in the home: 1080p video takes center stage from sources such as Blu-ray Disc, DVD, HD broadcasting, and gaming. The emphasis is still on Onkyo's audio prowess, so the HT-S5200 is equipped with three groundbreaking Audyssey technologies that will give you the edge in terms of surround sound. It also features some exciting innovations from Onkyo - a dedicated port that connects the iPod via the dock for the iPod and DSP modes specifically designed for gaming.User opinions

Best HTIB I have found.
Pros: Unbelievable power (130 W x7, 290W for sub), high quality speakers, Audyssey microphone adjusts delay on surround speakers according to your room dimensions and speaker position, HDMI pass through- only 1 cable to your TV, digital decoding, iPod dock
Cons: HDMI pass through- but it does NOT decode the audio signal (as advertised), only 2 optical audio inputs (has 2 additional digital coax inputs), surround speakers have a keyhold for hanging on wall unsure if they can be used with wall mount

The unit has the power and is nice looking.
Pros: I like the look of all the components and how easy it was to set the system up.
Cons: I bought the system at Fry's Electronics in Burbank, CA for $494.00, when I got the system home, I found the sub woofer was 10 inch, not 12 inch, as was printed on the box.The four small speakers are too small, for good reason, they have no tweeters.
I am making my third trip to Fry's, which should have been one very happy trip in the first place, had I paid attention to the spec sheet, I would have bought something better with at least, all two way speakers.
Updated on Aug 28, 2009I had a Panasonic system which had two way speakers, in saying that I find this system to be good in its surround sound, as was pointed out to me you do not need two way speakers for the side and back.
Updated on Aug 28, 2009I give this system 3 and a half stars.
