Manufacturer description

The launch of the HT-S6100 marks another milestone for Onkyo: the company's first receiver/speaker package to simultaneously handle 1080p video and bit-for-bit audio processing. The HT-S6100 anchors your home theater by integrating the full potential of high-definition media and high-definition displays. With an HDMI platform as good as it gets, you have every reason to be impressed. But the HT-S6100 is also going to take analog sources and upscale them to HD-friendly 1080i resolution for HDMI output. Featuring some valuable options - single-cable dock connectivity for iPod, Audyssey room acoustic correction technologies, and integrated control with other leading brand-name devices - this receiver/speaker package puts the emphasis on value for money.

Absolutely the BEST HTiB on the market today.

Pros: Plenty of power, decodes all HD audio formats, 4 HDMI repeaters, a mulitude of sound options, Audyssey set up, very good subwoofer, infitite connectivity.

Cons: Speakers are good, but could be better. Speaker wire too small - needs to be at least 18 gauge.

Review: Overall, this is one fantastic HTiB. And for the price - it can't be touched. BUY THIS SYSTEM if you have any inkling of every purchasing an HTiB.

Great value for money. Full of features. Good Quality

Pros: Feature rich, loads of connectivity options, well sized speaker drivers, HDMI processing works better than most Onkyo systems, Audyssey makes it even more perfect.

Cons: 1. System's speakers cannot drive full volume, and over a period of time, one can find downsides there.
2. Speaker wiring is a compromise in quality.

Review: The Onkyo HT-S6100 is a really good system for the price. The 4 HDMI inputs, and other connectivity options, and the RIHD (Onkyo's jargon for CEC, which helps control other CEC devices through HDMI), the 1080p, that is lacking in many Onkyo's systems, etc. make it worth the buck.
However, there are two constraints that I experienced:
Firstly, full volume is not totally clear for a long stretch of listening.
Solution: Replace only the Front channel speakers (and centre could be replaced too). I attached the Bose 301, as front speakers, and the system performance increased by 10-15%. Though I'm NOT a liker of Bose, the 301 is one of its very few speakers with gives balanced sound output in required frequencies as a front chanel speaker. The advantage of adding Bose - sound now fills the room more completely, and the sweet spot (area of the room where sound is the best) seemed to have enlarged. Also, the full volume is no more a problem, even when the system is played for long.
Secondly, speaker wires are the only part that show a compromise on quality.
Solution: Replace them if you feel the need. Purchase a wire of suitable gauge for the length you require.
I did that, and my system is now perfect for my room - 10'x12'. With the help of Audyssey, the set-up was a jiffy, and the sound quaity improved noticeably (even in the case of the Bose speaker's output).
It is clearly the best system in this price out there. I compare the sound quality to THX certified systems, and this system does not lack much. For example, after the changes I made, my HT-S6100 is as good as my brother's HT-S9100THX, which is costlier, even after the extra money I spent on the Bose 301 and speaker wires.

Sleek and Stylish

Pros: great sounding, lots of features w/ ipod and 4 hdmi slots you can pretty much hook up any HD piece of equipment out there. setup was very easy and color coordinated for the first time users. very stylish w/ a black high gloss shine to the speakers

Cons: none that i can think of.

Review: overall i don't think any buyer would be dissatisfied for the price and quailty Onkyo brings to the table.

Excellent system, 100% satisfaction achieved!

Pros: Excellent sound! Plenty of audio/video connectivity options.Great speaker setup utility Audyssey2EQ.iPod dock included is a very nice bonus. Instructions were easy to follow to get everything setup quickly (this is my first real Home Theater system).

Cons: Only thing I can't figure out how to do is turn off the Display so that when I'm watching my movies in the dark, I don't have to see the Display characters, but this is not much of a "con", I am completely satisfied.

Review: As a first-time Home Theater owner I found all of the functionality of this system impressive and easy to use. My setup is a Samsung LN52A650 52" LCD TV, Sony BDP-S550 Blue-Ray Disk Player, and a DirecTv Cable/Satellite box, and the Onkyo HT-S6100. I use the Onkyo remote controller to control all of my components, which is AWESOME since I don't have to buy a "universal remote." I plan on using this system to get familiar with all of the different options and then upgrading the speakers sometime in the not-so-near future.

Impressive piece of machinery

Pros: Perfect for those of us who have a Blu Ray and an LCD. There's 3 HDMI inputs, HD-DVR, Blu Ray, and XBox. Then 1 HDMI output to the LCD. This is the perfect system until your ready for that $2500 system.

Cons: It was time consuming to piece together. The speaker wire is that of every other manufacturer, thin, but easily remedied.

Review: This is the best compliment for an HD 1080p LCD TV, Blu Ray DVD, and HD gaming. It's a great system until your ready to piece your own system together.
