For the ultimate in home theater convenience and flexibility, Panasonic introduces a new "system in a box" featuring five-disc DVD/CD changer and built-in Dolby Digital processing. This new system makes great sounding home theater easier than ever. Everything the consumer needs is all in one convenient package, making these new systems easy to buy, easy to install, and easy to operate. The set's subwoofer and five satellite speakers - all with a two-way, two speaker configuration - are easy to set up. A four-step subwoofer level control and a universal remote control are included. SC-HT290D is great for any home theater environment, but compact enough for use in smaller rooms. This allows even those with limited space to bring the "movie theater" experience into their living room or den. Also, since everything needed for surround sound entertainment is included, set-up is simple. The "all in one" concept also ensures all the components are acoustically matched for optimum performance. The system boasts great visual appeal, with silver front panels and rich-looking silver speakers that will accent just about any room. SC-HT290D delivers a commanding 100 watts to each of the six channels, for wall-shaking audio. Boasting robust amplifiers to power the set's six included speakers, the system will envelope viewers in movie soundtracks. Because one of those speakers is a subwoofer, the system can deliver the full benefits of 5.1-channel surround from DVDs or digital satellite broadcasts encoded in Dolby Digital. This home theater system can also produce six different listening "environments" with Sound Field control. Options include "Arena," "Live," and "Club" and any of the six can add a distinct flavor or mood to the audio. The unit's five-disc DVD changer - which also provides audio CD/CD-R/RW playback and MP3 playback - lets users store and enjoy favorite movies at the touch of a button. Able to provide an evening's worth of film viewing or musical entertainment with no hassle, the changer is also ideal for the increasing number of multiple-disc DVD sets. A variety of play options, including random play (disc/tray), repeat play (disc/track) and chapter programming let users customize the experience. In addition, SC-HT290D allows any four discs to be changed while the fifth is playing. Speedy access time helps minimize the lull between discs. This model also has a built-in dts2 processor. An alternative to Dolby Digital, dts produces smooth, richly detailed surround sound and is found on a fast growing number of DVDs and audio CDs. Between Dolby Digital and dts, viewers and listeners will find themselves in surround sound nirvana.
