"Surprising sound, simple set-up, great results"
Pros: Fantastic 5.1 sound for the price
Cons: Instructions could be more detailed
Summary: We?ve had a HT system for years that set me back about $1500 just for the speakers ? KEFs and PSBs. But with an old receiver and no HDMI. I have to say that this HTIB surpasses the performance of that system for one-third the price.
I bought this system along with a Panasonic plasma in a bundle, and was a bit skeptical about how it was going to sound. I was especially concerned about reports I read online that he wireless surround speakers either didn?t work well, or generated a hiss. In my experience, they work flawlessly.
Setup was quick, although I had to rely on simple logic rather than the instruction manual to answer some questions I had about what went where regarding cabling. I called Panasonic customer support twice, but hung up in frustration both times after lengthy waiting periods. You?d think a company the size of Panasonic would provide a better customer service experience.
Using HDMI from the DVD player to the TV, and digital optical audio in from the TV produces stunning results. The DVD player/receiver offers a ton of audio options and the default settings are just fine in almost all cases.
All in all, I was very pleasantly surprised by the sound of this system, and can?t see spending more than this unless you want to go full-on audiophile gear. I paid $450 at Best Buy in April 2008.
I'm rating it "perfect" for my uses and because it performs exactly the way it's supposed to.

Does anyone happen to know how to "split" the sound, so to speak? In other words, with home theaters, I have heard that you can put the sound to work in all speakers, including the rear surround speakers, so that music or sound comes out of those speakers even if it is not by design on the disc itself. I may be confusing in my question, but if you have any help, please email drewrothman@gmail.com.

Just FYI you should be able to hook up your audio and video through HDMI - it puts both through to your TV typically.
