affordable excellent quality HTIB HTP-2600/HTP-2550
Pros: very sleek speakers, crisp clear sound
Cons: some work was needed to rewire speakers
I looked for reviews of the system all over the web with no luck so I decided to give it a shot. it was easy to assemble but I was disappointed to see that the speakers were prewired with the cheap gauge wiring that all systems come with.
My living room is 15'x15' for which this system was plenty initially, however i decided to go with monster cables to see if they actually make a difference.
It took some work to unscrew open the 4 speakers and the subwoofer but after buying the monster cable and equipping the ends with female wire connectors (available at any homedepot/radioshack store for a couple of $) it was easy to hook them to the internal speakers.
At the end I had the complete system rewired and the performance was spectacular, these cables do make a difference.
my neighbor knocked on my door asking me to lower the volume from the first night.
Pros:
-very crisp sound quality, pioneer speakers are amongst the best out there, plus they were the sleekest looking speakers amongst all the HTIB?s I found.
-separate receiver from dvd player which ensures quality, and has many different sound settings (movie/music/quiet/party modes) to accommodate your needs
-subwoofer is ideal for a 1 bedroom apartment setting, bass was pretty strong for a non-powered subwoofer.
Cons:
-speakers/woofer were prewired with the traditional flimsy wiring, and needed to be unscrewed open to install monster cable wire.
Bottom line is, if your looking for an affordable system that looks great, and sounds even better in a single bedroom apartment setting and dont mind doing some internal wiring to get the best quality this is an excellent bargain.
I would give it a 10 if the speakers had not been prewired.
