Pros Sleek design. Multiple HDMI ports.
Cons Sleek black surface shows dust. Inputs a bit confusing.
Summary We bought this system for a vacation condo with a small living room. I was able to reduce the price at Best Buy to $399 from $499 by showing them what competitors were charging. I then added a $169 Samsung BluRay player. I already had an HDMI cable box. Connected to a Panasonic plasma tv.
The installation was pretty simple. There was plenty of speaker wire included. It was a little difficult to connect the speaker wires to the back of the amplifier which used standard knobs. I would have designed the amplifier with speaker inputs similar to the easy to use clips behind the speakers.
The HDMI switching works well. It sends the video through which is all you need since the sound comes out of the surround sound speakers. The sound by the way was fine - not amazing but certainly adequate.
The ipod dock worked great. I used my Iphone. It asked me if I wanted to switch to airplane mode and I said no. It worked fine. But when the phone rang, the music temporarily stopped and the ringing came through the speakers.
In retrospect I could have bought a separate component and separate speakers. It would have cost more. The nice thing about this system is that I can replace the amplifier in the future and use the same speakers and hookups.
If I had to do it again I would use the separate components since I would have a far greater choice in amplifiers and speakers. If you want the quick way to achieve surround sound with components then this is fine - but be sure to pay no more than $399.
