"Overpriced paper weight" on by Kadiya333
Pros: When it's not magnetizing dust to its' surface it has a pretty shiny piano finish so it at first glance it looks like it could be a quality system
Cons: Too numerous to count. It doesn't do what it was created for. Doesn't receive media, amplify, transfer sound waves or video, etc... it is an overpriced piece of $hit
Summary: Never shop at Best Buy, I knew they were incompetent with electronics but I just had to get the stupid theater system that matched our new tv. This is what happens when you make an impulse purchase and fall in love with looks over substance. This system has 0 substance, so does the matching TV. Cheap piece of $hit. TV has crapped out twice and we haven't even had it for 2 years yet. Each time was the cheap Chinese capacitors they used due to their greed and obvious lack of electrical ability. First set of caps we doubled the size with the replacements, then 6 months later it fails again, only this time it's several of the caps we hadn't replaced, so we tripled the replacements for those. Now it's freak'n working. We'll have to make the time to go through the whole damn board to make sure we replace all of them so that it doesn't continue with the rest of them. So Samsung products only work after a lot of Googling, soldering, and tinkering by the consumer to correct all of their flaws because they do not have the ability to sell anything of quality.

"Decent for what you'll be using it for" on by mushabooms
Pros: Samsung synchronization with tv and blu-ray player. 3 HDMI inputs
Good sound with movies.Cons: Lots of fussing and tinkering to get decent music playing quality. But possible
(Keep on stereo, Change speaker levels to even out volume, increase high frequency on itunes equalizer)Summary: Good sound quality for movies, not for music players, easy sync with televisions. not worth the effort.
Perfect for a Home theater (not music player) out of a box -
"not much good here" on by sponging
Pros: controller pretty good, that's about all
Cons: when shut off always defaults to unconnected input jack, Samsung tech dept. won't respond! pitiful machine, samsung tv great! bd-3600 blu-ray is xlent, but don't waste money on this. also at least half second sound-lip lag, sometimes a full second
Summary: I am very dissapointed that I cannot get any responce from Samsung techs about this product

"Pretty decent sound for the price." on by unclebean23
Pros: Receiver looks slick.
Piano Gloss matches nicely with most LCD panels.
HDMI pass is convenientCons: Set up is tricky at first. But once it's done, it's no big deal.
Summary: Would recommend it for $400 or less. At this price, it would be competitive with other similar products.
The original MSRP was a bit high, but for what your'e getting for the price, it's pretty decent. Sound quality is good for movie watching, not good for music. -
"Difficult to set up --- may have design defect" on by Tinkerer2
Pros: Advertised to be easily integrated with Samsung TVs, which are currently top-rated.
Relatively easy to connect.Cons: Difficult to set up the advertised Anynet+ feature.
It appears that the HT-AS730S resets to FM function whenever it is turned off --- have to click several remote control buttons in order to start watching TV whenever it is turned on.Summary: It may be that the problem is some kind of set up, but so far I cannot get this unit to "remember" its settings from when it was turned off last time. For instance, if it is turned off after TV watching, when turned on again it will be in FM MOVIE mode. Turning it on again requires pushing the "SAT" button in the remote control, and then push the "Input Mode" button twice to get to the correct input. This is annoying. I would appreciate some help from Samsung on this as I am considering returning the whole system because of this annoying "design feature".
