Still a wonderful unit, Even Five Years Later
Pros: Great Sound, Amazing Picture, VERY impressive Sub for a "Boxed" system,
Cons: Large Remote, Weight of Unit
I bought this unit around the date of its released and it has served me for thousands of hours of DVD playback with no issues what so ever.
Far to many people seem to forget this unit is also a receiver and requires a very well ventilated area in order to work well and avoid overheating, please keep that in mind when you are positioning the unit.
The sound quality of this unit is what sold me in stores, I normally like to avoid the "Boxed" aspect as much as I can, but the sound was clear and very sharp and the speakers unlike many boxed systems do not feel light and cheap.
The Sub is the best Sub I have seen in a boxed unit and its output rivals the quality I get out of the CV unit I have on my primary TV,
Originally this unit was wired via RCA's and the quality was very good, the options for S video and Component were a nice bonus of which I used all of them at one point or another, believe it or not 80% of this players life saw it pumping video through an S-Video and the quality was still crisp and excellent on standard DVD's.
Being that it is an all in one the unit is very weighty when compared to others and at times the large fan on the back of the unit can be rather noisy, but in open air setting I rarely heard the fan and when it was on the sound from the movie normally far outweigh it.
At around the five year mark my unit is still giving me excellent sound and picture quality and if you can get your hands on one and you take care of it you will be rewarded.

Shame on Samsung
Pros: None I could find as it only worked for a short time
Cons: All cons and no pros
No more Samsung products for me!

Phenomonal Product, why the low ratings??
Pros: Great sound, very affordable, durable, nice picture
Cons: Only one optical input, won't play loud on some CDs
We finally bought a 37" Westinghouse 1080p TV monitor, and I thought we would have to buy an upconverting DVD player to take advantage. NOT SO!! Using a cheap manufacturer component cable, I enabled the progressive scan function, and the video quality awed me as much as the surround still does. This system is loaded, and for a small to midsize room, fits the bill for even the most demanding electronic addicts.
The only, and I mean THE ONLY drawback to this system is its lack of multiple digital inputs. With our digital set top box and my PS2, I can no longer have both hooked up digitally. This is why after 3 years, I have finally said a sad goodbye to this amazing system.

"Protection" fault problem
Pros: Ok sounding system
Cons: "Protection" fault came up after rarely using system for 7 months.

Good starter/second HTIB system
Pros: good sound, all in one, price
Cons: dvd pause, remote, style, quirks
My father has the complete home theater setup and spent over $6000 with the 61" HD TV and has returned it once. I run my system with the DB600 and 35" non HD Toshiba and I can still wow a few people and I have no complaints with the sound and play experience. However, with small children, the remote disappears on occasion. I hate the fact that I can't move around the DVD menu without the remote.
If you want a solid and cheap HTIB system, you found it.

"Protection". Need I say more?m
Pros: It performed as expected for 8 months (light use)
Cons: "Protection". Inoperable. There's no reason. No abuse, not even heavy use.
Do yourself a favor. DON'T buy this Samsung P.O.S..
I'm done with Samsung.

Do NOT purchase this DVD Player or you'll be played!
Pros: Looks nice.
Cons: Does Not Work!
I just hung up with "Customer Service" and guess what? When I read them the unit serial number, they said, it is beyond warranty! *lol* I asked how that could be possible, I bought it from CostCo. She said it's too old. I haven't had the thing for 9 months yet! I guess Costco gets OLD stuff and sells it cheap and you're the victim! Certainly I'm going to find as many places as I can to post something negative about Samsung products! They want $150 to have it repaired. It would be funny if it weren't so sad. Best part, I had to pull the unit out of the entertainment system because they needed the serial number. I read it to her slowly and she said, "One minutes, I missed the first numbers, could you repeat them?" I did, then said, "it's heavy, please hurry up." AFTER I put the unit back in the entertainment system, cutsie says, "I didn't get the last numbers, would you repeat them please?" What a moron. It's funny that she was "acting" polite. Can you believe they would hire people like this to be their "Customer Service Representatives"? It's not bad enough their service stinks, they have to also have service reps that are just plain dumb. Oh, and this is AFTER you go through the voice mail system having to click, 1, 2, 2, 4, 5, 9, 11, 2, 8, 4..... I'm shaking my head because I can't shake someone over there and tell them to wake up. Never again will I purchase a Samsung product. Trust me. I haven't purchased Exxon gas since they started charging less for cash, don't think this won't happen as well. What a shame.
My opinion - Don't be a sucker like I was... am.

REVISED "POOR" RATING
Pros: My previous rating of Dec 16 was based on the HT-610 Amplifier not being able to amplify the sound from my Satellite TV receiver. I have since discovered that the problem was the remote for the Satellite Receiver was set up to control the Receivers sound
Cons: Had to spend TWICE as much ($399) to get a 6.1 system that doesn't even have the DVD changer included.

Known product defect.
Pros: Reasonable price, if it was functional.
Cons: As noted on numerous electronics websites, this DVD changer has a known defect which causes the system to become completely inoperable. Samsung states that this is a fan problem which causes the system to say "PROTECTION" at startup, then automatically t

wow, it's terrible
Pros: size, style
Cons: After about 5 hours of use, it began to flash the word "PROTECTION" and turn off. Now that's all it does, and I can't even get my disks out. Samsung wants me to ship it to New Jersey at my expense. Enough said.

Not enough amplifier power
Pros: After reading previous reviews, I was skeptical but hopful that the Model 610 had resolved all previous problems. At $200 it was a great value and setup was easy. It appeared everything worked flawlessly until I wanted to hear TV sound. Barely audible
Cons: Even at MAXIMUM VOLUME, I could not hear the sound from my TV coming through the Samsung unit at a comfortable level without causing "hissing" sound in all speakers. Other devices (DVD, VCR, etc.) that were amplifed through the Home Theater had more than

Great sounding system that doesn't perform like a HomeTheatre in a box!
Pros: This HTIB (HomeTheatre in a box) has met all of my expectations. I have had this system for one year and have not had one problem with it. The sound pitch range of the speakers is incredible. My friend purchased a very expensive system not a HTIB and ho
Cons: The one con that I have with this particular unit is that there is only one digital fiber optical input and no digital component inputs. I had to purchase a ten dollar digital audio selector from radio shack to take care of this issue.

Great feature set, terrible quality.
Pros: Great set of features for the price. Good picture quality and sound quality. Unintrusive.
Cons: Firmware quality. I bought one, and within a couple months it wouldn't "boot" up. I called Samsung, and they said it was a known problem. They asked me to send it to them. They said that I had to send the entire system (including the heavy sub), not j

Plagued with Problems
Pros: Great sound, good features, nice price.
Cons: The system is plagued with problems. Even if my DVD was brand new and didn't have a single scratch the system would jump and cause many problems. I had many "no disk" errors and many times would not even read a CD or DVD. The system is also very sinsit

no problems for novice audiophile
Pros: I've had no problems with this model, every thing has worked great. The only "disc error" I get is when I don't make sure the disc is flush in the tray. Great for beginners, running 3 gaming systems and computer through it for audio.
Cons: Slow reading of mp3 dvd was the only problem for me.

A Piece of ****
Pros: At least it worked for two months. Service policy is good...they probably get lots of practice with this unit.
Cons: This is a totally unreliable system. I am sending it back for the second time. The drawer won't open, the disks won't play, and the tuner (radio) won't work.

Can't be beat
Pros: Great sound, great picture, great features, great deal (esp. used on ebay). Just bought my second one. No problems with either set, and the hacks available on the web allow for playing of PAL disks as well
Cons: Skinny speaker wires with cheesy connectors.

Excellent HTIB for the price
Pros: Excellent bass response, DVD/CD changer works great, relatively small speakers, DVD movies sounds terrific, did I mentioned the powerful bass?, plays mp3's
Cons: Bulky dvd/cd changer, the max volume is not that loud but perfect for average apartment's rooms where you don't want to bother your neighbors

Great... when it works.
Pros: Good picture, small form factor.
Cons: Very unreliable! Iv'e had two crap out on me now. Even though the first one was under warrantee, they wanted me to ship it for diagnostics. With it's weight, that would have been $50. I managed to convince the sellers to exchange it, even though they

More for your money
Pros: The sound is incredible for such a cheap package, and the heft, feel and performance of the product is impressive.
Cons: Samsungs custom speaker terminals are horribly restrictive.

5-Disc capacity, 2-disc ability
Pros: Easy set-up - color-coded terminals
Cons: Poor quality control, form factor. I bought this HTIB from Costco, set it up, and found that only two of the five trays worked, either for DVDs or CDs. Also, it's deeper than other components, so it was awkward to position in my existing furniture. Ret

Unbeatable Value, Great Design and Performance!
Pros: Available for an incredible $249 at Costco. This unit, as the review states outshines nearly all the competition, regardless of cost. Picture is outstanding on my Samsung HDTV, and the sound quality is good.
Cons: Not very loud at all, and the proprietary speaker wire connectors are a joke. It's insulting enough that they use some puny 20ga wire, but the fact that you have to go out of your way to upgrade it is ridiculous.

Why did you pay shipping?

Had it four months and flawless
Pros: I have had no problems with this unit since I got it in august. It sounds great puts out a great picture and the features are great for the price. I would highly recomend this product
Cons: The only thing that bothers me are the speaker wires but they work fine for what this unit cost.

It's a great budget system
Pros: This is my first ever HTIB so I've nothing to compare it against, but like all other review here the sound IS good... the high sound and the low sound mixed naturally. The build seems solid and reliable and so far there has been no errors. Oh, and Dolb
Cons: All the bad reviews makes my heart thumping when I ordered it online, and felt very lucky when there's nothing wrong with mine... In all honesty though, it's probably just luck because about half of all reviews that I found on this item contains the "no

Great Value, Good Sound
Pros: Very nice sound for the price. Component video out is nice too. Subwoofer sounds great.
Cons: First of all, the first one I bought started to give a no disc error after a day. This new one seems to work fine. However, why does Samsung need to use their own speaker wire connections. You can't use your own monster speaker cable without splicing t

Pros: Great surround, very tweakable, can adjust dynamic range to bring voices to closer volume level with special effects. Great picture with HDTV. Does good job with dolby digital AND dts. mp3's sound really good.
