"Great fit for an apartment living room. Very happy."4.0 starson by Mpas14
Pros: Sounds much better than TV speakers. The "Bravia Sync" connection makes it possible to tuck away the subwoofer and just use my cable remote to control the TV and Sound bar.
Cons: Will not sound like a true surround sound system. By tucking away the sub makes it difficult to access the sound bar's other options.
Summary: (Purchased on Jan. 2011)I've had this unit for 3months now and I am happy with it. Sounds great when watching movies on the blu-ray player. Much better than the TV speakers. Again, not like surround sound systems, but for our apartment, it is just right.... One little thing. the manual says that it will default to the "standard" setting, but on mine it seems to default to the sports setting every time now. trying to look into it.
When I was in the market for a new TV for the living room, I knew that the TV's speakers would be enough. Living in an apartment (three family unit) it is not an option to have a surround sound system without upsetting the other tenants with the sound from such a system, and I don't want to have wires running all over the place. I also want to have a set-up that, If possible, would only require one remote.
I ended up purchasing a Sony 46" TV and Sony Blu-Ray and this Sony sound bar for the quality of the product and for the convenience of being able to use one or two remote at most to control everything including the cable box. Sony's "Bravia Sync" makes it possible to connect everything together and now I can use the cable remote to turn on/off the cable box, TV, Sound Bar and control the volume and change channels. Obviously when watching movies on the Blu-ray I have to use the Blu-ray's remote to control the player.
I have only had this for a few weeks and so far I am very happy with it.
