"Good device once you learn the proper to connect."

3.5 stars  | on by BRAY244

Pros

Works well when connected in the right sequence

Cons

Have to learn, search out the proper connection order

Summary

Little support from Bytecc, but it now has a cryptic "tips to install BT-300" doc

"BT-300 Need Improvements Pronto!"

2.5 stars  | on by preachjohn

Pros

Sounds like cats' meow for those who are more tecchy and repair personnel, according to claims on the box.

Cons

No manual & site tips suck.
t#2. tip misses a step? When, as the correct sequence is critical, do you plug in the usb adapter?
#3 tip/no sense. Since no a.c., and the h.d. is powered and spinning, only then you connect usb. What's powers it to spin?

Summary

This is a dream adapter kit, if it will do what it claims to do. And reasonably priced for what you get. But I can't personally find if it really works on varied media yet, as the instructions are missing or sorely lacking. I shouldn't have to experiment and risk frying something. Which I think I may have done at this point. As IDE drives that loaded, don't load anymore.
If I'm missing something, someone please help me. Because this is what I read, and reread.
If I read the tips correctly, being as no necessary manual is included, the online tips are inexcusably pathetically done. The Techs at BYTECC may be good at what they do, but business acumen is lacking elsewhere in the corporation.

"Great idea ... not exactly plug & play."

Pros

Nice and easy to see what is on internal hard drives without having to fully install them or even open up your system case.

Cons

Doesn't work in Vista and the company doesn't seem to have any plans to work on a driver for it. You have to remember to set your drive as master in order for it to work properly.

Summary

Nice product ... just keep an XP machine around in order to use it.
