"Widely used in the sign industry/ all the features a pro needs"
on by vicenacPros Clean readable interface - Full featured
Cons Not as popular in DTP Industry
Summary I am a professional designer and I used CorelDraw since version 4. I never liked Adobe because of its interface - small icons, modal windows and roll-ups do not dock etc.
I have found Corel to match Adobe in every version. I think they match perfectly. To me Corel is a lot easier to use and the interface a lot cleaner and easier to understand.
I find CorelDraw to be a bit more on the technical side of design, offering great precision very easy. That's why the sign industry prefers it. Adobe is more towards the artistic side. -
"Makes IllustratorCS look sick."
onPros You name it... Corel covers most of the bases for any true graphics professional. The work flow between apps in the suite beats Adobes inter-application co-operation hands down! The perfect combination for a working professional studio, is CorelDraw suite
Cons PhotoPaint IS missing a couple of small features that Photoshop has that would make it a bit nicer. Like the healing brush. But if you have any REAL talent to bring to using graphics software, you really can easily live without it.

"In 21st century, still destroys files"
on by brianf--2008Pros Fairly thorough, relatively easy to use
Cons A 1980s antique that (still) obliterates files
Summary I had been using the Corel suite since version 2. I had periodically updated simply because it was less expensive and time consuming than buying and learning a new product.
Unfortunately, Corel has never been able to bring its products to the level of robustness one has grown accustomed to over the past DECADE. The product crashes frequently and will completely destroy your working Corel files. This is a quaint reminder of software in the 1980s. Sadly, I’m not the nostalgic type, so this feature is lost on me.
At this point in my career losing a day of work is more costly than several Coral suites, so Corel has finally and irrevocably found its way to the trash bin. I recommend that potential buyers save themselves the trouble and look elsewhere. -
"An Absolute Gem Of An Application!"
on by brucerbyPros Incredible Value, Runs Fast, Feature Rich & More
Cons Not Viewed By Graphics/Ad World As Pro Tool
Summary I have used Corel Draw since 5....with a few missteps, it has gotten better and better. With Ver 12 it is EASIER and more precise than ever before. It just amazes me that so many pro graphics people don;t use this program. I can turn out work that is the equal of anything that can be done on Adobe products, but Adobe is clearly becoming the standard not withstanding. Corel needs to promote the new version more because once a person works with it, they won;t want to switch.

"have been using the program since version 9 and love the improved Coreldraw 12 package"
on by melanie vd bergPros clipart, photos, ease of use and fantastic layout abilities make this a great program
Cons pre-press ISSUES drive me insane. Still too many bugs!
Summary I am a loyal CorelDraw user but always find i have to defend my reason for using it! Corel 12 has definately been improved compared to earlier versions especially with regards to output errors. However I am still experiencing major problems when submitting PDF files for prepress and printing. SO FRUSTRATING!
