    "Best Version Yet"

by Larry Hubbert on March 14, 2006

Pros: Easier to us than competitors

Cons: I miss a few of the old tools that have been eliminated

Summary: I may be biased since I have been a staunch CorelDraw user since I started with Version 3 many many years ago. I have used every version of Corel Draw eversince. Due to the nature of my work I also use and I have used all of the competitors programs as well, but I seem to always revert back to my Corel Draw, because I have everything that I need to do the job in one package, unlike all the competitors, especially the big 'A', where you have to use several of their packages to do the same job that you can do in Corel. The Biggest Plus however is the cost of this complete product and there it Wins Hands Down over the competition.

Sorry, while I appreciate pretty much any feedback when considering a purchase of the product, it would be useful to hear not THAT a person liked X3, but why, with of course the design flaws. All products have design flaws, those little areas where CEO's refused to employ picky little complainers to find things the engineers did wrong.

I am presently using Corel Draw 9, and it SUCKS as far as ease of use. Even the Help responses assume familiarity with the product. That isn't to say Draw 9 lacks capability, only that the manufacturer didn't bother to add in user-friendliness, saving themselves money and frustrating endless amateur designers who merely want a little more power than the $50 programs yet won't be spending 500 hours a year on one of the things. Adobe in the past has been no better.

Anyway, off to hopefully find a thorough review. I guess the one above does help in that the writer found the upgrade overall worth obtaining.

My job is very distant from being a graphic designer but very often I have found the need of working as one. I started using CorelDraw 4 and then upgraded to 9. Last week I decided to give X3 a try and I'm just fascinated. I found the dockers very useful and the smart fill tool fanstastic. But if I had to choose just one tool to justify the upgrade, it would be the crop tool. It seems to me that this 13 is all but jinx.
