Pros High quality compact design, works out of the box by usb or infrared. Lightweight. Very convenient for travelng. Pretty fast photos and text.
Cons Tech support is a joke. I needed help setting it up on a network and I was told they wouldn't help me or support it. It doesn't come with the bluetooth adapter needed for true wireless. Battery is also extra cost. Small ink cartriges.
Pros Fast and portable, fits in the front seat nicely. Makes an excellent paperweight too!
Cons Canon says they will not make drivers for Windows CE or Palm OS. OUCH!
Pros It's small and it prints fast.
Cons The ink cartridges aren't big enough. I use my printer almost daily printing about 50 pages of partially text-filled pages. I go through a black ink cartridge weekly, using the lowest print quality. The most annoying part isn't the cartridge size, it's th
Pros lightweight and small, interesting software bundled with it, good quality print, fairly quick for its size
Cons ink goes in a flash, small paper capacity
Summary I wouldn't choose this for my full-time printer, but when I'm on the road, it's a perfect portable companion. I put it in with my laptop or my luggage. Runs on a battery when an electrical outlet isn't available or convenient.
Naturally, there are trade offs, like tiny tiny ink cartridges that seem to run in after just a few pages (probably not as quickly as it seems), and a small paper capacity. But that's only natural for a portable.
One extra bonus was some interesting software, like the 'webpage printer' that refomats any webpage so it prints the whole page without cutting off the edges. Nifty.
All in all, I'm VERY pleased with this printer.
Pros Fast for everyday stuff, and great for photos at a 2 picolitre drop! Ink cartridges are small, but Canon made the printer to be small, as compared to it's competitors, Ink price is comparable
Cons When their portable becomes a six color, there will be no stopping Canon!
Summary This is a great unit and I've had mine since it came out! I bought the battery and cradle combo together and it's worth the cost. The printer is expensive, but just compared to someone that owns a desktop verses a laptop, WELL DUH the cost is more. Laptops are still considered a luxury, everyone has a desktop PC. The battery lasts forver on a single charge! The ink goes fairly quick, but the cost is lower than HP overall, and there are two cartridges per pack (color and black). The ink yields more output than it's competitors. The only thing better is Canon's desktop for photos, like the iP8500, which was just reviewed today and was given very good and the i9900 was given an EXCELLENT. Way to go Canon. Keep it up!
