"Great for basic text and photos" on by Tuff Customer

Pros: Clear text, vivid photos, sleek styling, speed

    Cons: Noisy, ink use

Summary: I bought this to replace the printing function of competitor's an all-in-one. This Canon is a great entry-level printer for laser-quality black text (at the high-quality setting) and decent, vivid photos (at standard & high-quality settings). The photos are better than my old all-in-one, thanks to Canon's new chromalife ink formula. The text also is sharper on the Canon. Keep in mind it uses two small, but reasonably priced, ink cartridges and runs fast, but noisy. Definitely worth the money!

"Great printer for the money" on by brasolt03

Pros: Excellent photo quality and black and white very fast!

Cons: No recieving tray uses alot of ink

Summary: This printer is one of the best values out there! It is fast, inexpensive (around 50 dollers)and prints photo's with the best of them! My only complaints are lack of of a receiving tray, and the printer seems to consume a lot of ink. All in all a great printer

"Canon still impressive" on by Treasa65

Pros: small footprint, archaival inks, covers!

Cons: weight, cost of replacement inks, not seperate tanks

Summary: This is my fourth Canon printer. (bj210, bj800, s450, and this one. In fairness, the bj210 still works, but it's not color.)

I'm hard on printers. I've used other manufacturers as well. Canon consistantly makes a product that is easy to use and, barring unfortunate accidents, rugged. The covers for the paper carriage and front of the machine should eliminate the usual reason I have to replace printers. (stuff falling in and getting stuck in the carriage, warping the feeding mechanism or stripping the gears)

I generate a lot of graphics, so color quality is a must! This model seems able to deliver as well as the Epson Stylus CX4200 for print quality.

From past experience, I'm concerned that this machine is too light and won't be able to take the punishment I inadvertantly dish out, but haven't seen any evidence of that yet. It does take up less room than several of my former printers, which leaves more desktop room, which is always welcome!

Text is crisp. Color contains no discernable smearing or skipping. The color cartridge contains only one tank and the price is a bit high, but for archaival quality inks, it's not too outlandish. Would have liked seperate color tanks, though, but they're not usually found in this price range.

For the price, though, it's an excellent student or personal printer.
