"Great printer for the price" on by Arkayem
Pros: I like that it will print from the paper in the tray without opening the top hatch. Then when I want to print a photo, I open the top hatch and put photo paper in there, and it knows to use that paper automatically.
Cons: It's somewhat slow.
Summary: This printer is great for normal text printing as well as photos.
For text it is plenty fast for my noncommercial home use.
It also makes beautiful photos up to 8.5x11 as well as my professional photo printer. The colors are smooth and rich with accurate skin tones. No banding or marks.
It is also quite frugal with the ink compared to my other printers. I haven't done any scientific tests, but it seems to get about 50% more 8x10 photos before needing ink than my Canon i9900 can do.
It also has a large black ink cartridge for normal text printing, plus a smaller black cartridge that is used when printing photos.
This is a great value! -
"Not as good as past Canon products" on by tfp2
Pros: Good text print, decent photo quality
Cons: Expensive ink doesn't last as long, not as good overall as previously owned Canon products
Summary: I've been a Canon printer user for 10+ years-5 printers. This one might make me think about switching to another brand. Although it has decent quality for the low unit cost, ink is expensive & doesn't seem to last as long, dual paper feeds are a pain, it does jam more frequently than any other Canon I've owned. The plain paper cassette has to be installed perfectly square to unit or results are angled on paper.
