"Perfect Quality print" on by testakis

    Pros: Really like it.

    Cons: Great machine.

Summary: I have this printer for about 1 month now, and I am really happy with it. The B&W prints needs a little attention with the icc/icm profiles to get a complete neutral image.
Overall Great Machine for printing photos inside you place that lasts.

"Perfect 11 out of 10!" on by TheeKah

Pros: quiet, fast, good graphics and text

    Cons: none at this point

Summary: I love this printer and it's my first photo printer. I haven't been a big fan of Canon because they took forever to start up when you turned them on and took awhile to start printing...which made them a bit noisy. Because of this I was ify on this printer, but when I went to a store and printed text and photo documents to see how they came out...perfecto! I compaired this printer with the Epson R340 and the HP 8250, and this Canon is the winner! This printer doesn't have that noisy start up issue like the models before.

Photos: I think they come out just as good as the photos you get processed from a one-hour photo place...and the best part about it is that you get to pick the photo paper, unlike at a photo place...they're b-e-a-utiful!

Text: The text is rich and deep...love it. Text and graphic documents come out looking sharp.

    Overall: Perfect!

"i gave it a 3 and heres why" on by aaron8484

Pros: large lcd.... fast.... high Res

    Cons: keeps breaking!!!!!!!!!head clogging

Summary: i bought the canon ip6600 for my grandma about 8 months or so ago... it does do very nice phots and i like the reverse print feature even though she never used it... i bought her the canon becuase she has a canon camera and i know that doesnt matter what printer you have but she likes to keep it the same.... she prints lots of phots but she may let the printer set 2 or 3 weeks between uses... welll ive had the print clogg beyond repair 2 times we bought one it broke canon replaced it and it broke.... Canon claims that a head cleaning would clean it out... well i would to 4 or 5 in a row which a huge waste of ink and it still wouldnt print.... so Canon told me to to take the print head out and run it under water!! haha i should never have to do that to a printer i did on both printers both were clogged! I didnt know what to do because HP sucks for photos... lexmark Sucks period....and epson are known for head clogging to.... i went out on a limb and bought an Epson R340 for her and me .... 4 months later we are still happy no issue... i did many tests (20 photos are so on the canon IP6600 and Epson r340)... the Epson;s colors were actually closer to the picture then the Canon , and detail even though the Epson has lower Res was very very close... and ive found my cost per print to still be the same... Im more then happy with the Epson... hopefully you canon fans have better luck then me.... The epson also prints directly ON Cd/DVD which i use all the time... And Pigmented ink that Epson uses it rated for 100 years..... even though the Canon rep told me that the Ip6600's dye ink was rated for 75 years phots we printed on it are already starting to fade!!!!!

"Unacceptable -- red cast and score marks on cartridge photo paper" on by RobertPie

    Pros: Some photos print fine

Cons: Serious red cast and score mark problems

Summary: My first Canon printer was the PIXMA IP6000D, purchased Dec 16, 2005, which I had to return due to a failure in the power supply (the power light glowed orange, indicating a failure, and the printer would not turn on after 10 days of perfect operation). It was a good printer but defective and hesitated to exchange it for another disappointment.

After returning the 6000D, the Canon PIXMA IP6600D seemed like a great upgrade, so I tried it. At first it seemed impressive, until I started printing photos on Canon 4x6 Photo Paper Plus Glossy. Some photos with lots of color looked fine. But some looked a bit "off" in color. Grey subjects had a distinctive "red" cast. Turning off the "Vivid" option helped reduced the problem but only slightly.

I also noticed loading the 4x6 paper from the lower cartridge resulted in score marks on the photo paper. The supposed "cure" for this was NOT to use the cartridge for photo paper. This made no sense. The lower cartridge is where I would logically place less often used paper (such as photo) and the upper main paper feed where I would place what I used most often and could visually check before printing.

Canon really blew it on this printer. Mechanically the score marks are a failure in engineering and in terms of the software driver, or whatever, the red cast is totally unacceptable. It's going back.

I swore off HP and Epson but I guess I'm going to have to re-evaluate the options. Very disappointing. I expected more out of Canon.
