Pros Print results are better than photo labs. Wide choice of paper sizes to utilize. Ink use seems less to me than most other printers. Good software. Easy to install. 8 individual ink containers so you don't waste ink with combined cartridges.
Cons The paper handling mechanism is a bit fussy. It can pull your paper in crooked if you don't have it aligned up just right in the mechanism. I think this is an area Canon could improve upon.
Summary I have only had this printer for a couple of weeks but have been extremely impressed with it's output. People can't believe my prints came from a printer and not a lab. I don't understand why people crab about ink usage. Yes, it is a professional grade photo printer and yes it will use ink. Compare the price to what you pay at photo labs and I think you will find you save money. Also add in fuel costs, travel time, etc. in the equation. I also don't understand the complaint about color accuracy. I personally have never seen more accurate printouts across a wide range of different papers. Perhaps you have a defective printer? Or maybe you have a bad ink cartridge?
I'm still learning how to use this printer. I am currently playing around with Adobe Essentials version 8 that came with the printer and have 9 on order. I have done very little modifications to my photos and the results have been astonishing. I can only imagine how much better they will be once start tweaking with the software.
Overall - with the rebate I hope to get, I find this printer is a bargain for what it does. I love having the convenience of being able to print anything from 4x6 prints up to 13x9 including using art paper without having to go out to a lab.
Now, all I need is more wall space. :)
Pros Fine resolution, nice results with B&W
Cons It doesn't even come close to what a color print on photography paper looks like. It's very hard to get accurate color and changes with different papers. That has been most frustrating. It also uses a lot of ink, which is expensive.
Summary For what you get the printer is over rated. A decent inkjet printer worth $100 will produce more accurate color from paper to paper with not much sacrifice in image quality.
Pros Printed good quality photos.
Cons I didn't use my printer excessively and was changing ink cartridges quite frequently. The cartirdges were expensive for the amount you got and how long they would last.
Summary I have always been able to depend on Canon for top quality products. This printer is a disappointment because it only lasted two years.
Pros Bought this printer on a Canon special deal - £100 rebate at christmas. Always wanted an A3 printer and couldnt resist it. Printed some beautiful prints of my daughters wedding, quality as good as my usual lab, on Canon Photo Paper Pro Platinum; Not so us
Cons Sheer size - you need a large desk to accomodate this beauty
Summary Got this on a great deal so am realy pleased
