Pros The speed is great
Cons None at this time
Summary The packing was very secure and the unpackaging of the 1900 was very organized in removing the contents.
The instructions were easy with step by step instructions and to the point.
The actual start-up from unpacking, assembling and bringing the printer on line took only minutes.
The operation of the 1900
When I turned on the printer it did the system check in approximately 30 seconds.
The actual printing of an image was remarkably faster than my old printer which was an Epson 2200.
The Image of the 1900
A very noticeable difference in skin tones compared to other printers; of which I have never seen an image appear to be so clear and life like.
The color with the addition of the orange and red inks really improve the natural color.
The sharpness of the image was significancely improved compared to my previous printer.
I would highly recommend this printer for the serious amateur and semi-professional photographer for ease of operation, great natural colors and improved sharpness. This product is well worth the asking price.
Pros When you are done converting everything to PDF's and dealing with major shifts in color, eveything is ok.
Cons HORRIBLE drivers
Prints any type of vector art in Adobe CS3 like a dot martix printer including text.
Don't even try and use this product with a mac, you will be spending all your time fighting the drivers and the setting to get a print.
Summary This printer has major potential. I had to send mine back to EPSON because it was so horribly incompatible with my mac. It worked with other programs just not what I need it to work for the most, CS3. Beware if you are a graphic designer using a mac, this problem is a big deal and it's not just my machine. Others in my studio had the same issue with their macs. EPSON support told me it was a postscript issue, however competing printer companies offer support for this in their drivers, and EPSON does not. I would suggest a Cannon or HP instead.
Pros Prints were good while it worked.
Cons INK CARTRIDGES DO NOT REGISTER! USELESS PRINTER!
Summary EPSON is being taken to court for their ink cartridge chips that don't register or say they are empty when you just bought them. This printer stopped recognizing the gloss cartridge or randomly rejecting the cartridge after a few uses. It is a paper weight. Owners across the net are reporting this issue along with the horrible support they are (not) getting from EPSON. DO NOT BUY! CNET needs to seriously re-think this as their "best" inkjet printer... try using it for more than 5 minutes. Also, the Mac OS X support blows and you have to restart the printer in order to run the control panel / ink level monitor once, after which it just continually says "printer is busy". I seriously regret spending a lot of money on this piece of garbage. Buy at your own risk... don't take my word for it, google this faulty ink cartridge problem and don't trust CNET rating like I used to. Horrible, horrible printer.
Pros See below. In brief the ease of setting it up and then printing
Cons My only negative about the 1900 was there was no USB cord included. For that much money a cord could be included.
Summary Epson 1900 Photo Printer
For over 40 years I have been a professional photographer. I have printed many 1000?s of images. Most of the time it was trial and error until I got what I wanted! There were long hours in the darkroom or working with Photoshop.
A good friend of mine suggested I buy the 1900. He kept telling me how great it a printer the 1900 was! Well the first print out of the box blew my socks off. I had given up printing photos of the grand kids because the quality from my former printer. I am now going to start printing again with a renewed energy. The color is vibrant. The print is sharp as a tack.
My only negative about the 1900 was there was no USB cord included. For that much money a cord could be included.
Pros The idea of a large format printer on canvas.
Cons Clogged jets. Loading canvas. Expensive ink.
Summary First time I ever felt compelled to write a review. I was so excited to finally get a wonderful Epson printer. Well, canvas is ridiculous to load. Most of the time it spits the whole roll out...thank you. When one of you inkjets clog, you're done you . Waste a ton of ink. I am totally disillusioned with Epson. Not sure where to waste my next $500...
