"love it... .dependable .... prints right on to cd" on by digitaldan76

Pros: beautiful photos.... direct print on cd.... dependable

Cons: slow......... but still worth it

Summary: love this printer.. ive had other new photo printers by canon and hp... i really like pigmented ink because it really surpasses dye ink which canon and hp use on matte paper which i do alot of matte photos...... the printer even though it has less dpi then the new canon makes up for it in pigmented ink quality... and it can print directly on cd/dvd ...its very dependable i havent had or needed a head cleaning yet... it would get a 10 but it is much slower then the canon takes double the time to print out a 4x6 canon does it in under a minute epson takes uncer 2 minutes but im a pateint guy and im very happy with it :)

"Great Price, CD-DVD Printable" on by scottyat2

Pros: Performs to Mfg Specifications. Individual ink cartridges

Cons: CD/DVD tray - poor trac feed. High price on Photo paper

Summary: It beats HP vivera ink. High Grade Photo Paper very expensive. No High Grade
Printable CD-R, DVD-R/+R discs for labels. Trac Feed for Discs is exceptable to damage. Ink use not really any better than any other new Inkjet Printers. For an extra $250-$300 could get Epsons higher grade model for better performance for those who can afford it. Worth the money, just hope the Printable Disc Trac Feed don't break.

    Updated
The Epson R340 with it's separate Ink Cartridges I would of thought would use less
but I'm spending just as much or more than I was with the HP Deskjet 990Cse and doesn't have the Feed for Doublesided.
The best 2 points of the Epson is Ink doesn't smear as much and able to Print to CD/DVD.
If you don't need to Print to Cd's or DVD's
buy a different printer. My new rating 5 out of 10

    "Epson Reputation" on by hardwarethree

    Pros: Print-on CD

Cons: Low quality LCD photo preview screen

Summary: I just purchased this printer and haven't had a chance to really shake it down. I printed one of the print-on DVD's and the operation requires a little hand assistance. The results were good and I've always liked the quality and reputation of Epson Printers. The manual recommended letting the freshly printed DVD to dry for 24 hours, but I was able to handle it and touch the printed surface almost immediately. I'm selling my Photo Stylus 820 in a yard sale tommorrow and will miss it alot. It gave me 4 years good service and was still printing when I replaced it with the R 340-c. The photo preview screen on the R 340-c seemed to be of a poor quality, although I didn't purchase the printer to print photos. I usually leave that task to Ritz or other photo outlets such as Costco or Wal-Mart. The manual and documents that came with the new printer were consistent with Photo Stylus 820. Both printers came with a clearly illustrated unpacking guide showing how to unpack and prepare your printer for initial operation.
The Print-on CD software was simple and direct. The printer comes with a circular paper disc that is used to do initial calibration before actually printing a CD.
