"Worse product I've ever owned"

0.5 stars  | on by dbccnet

Pros

It hasn't killed anybody (yet)

Cons

Incredibly attentitive
Does not report failures.
Slow to start up (after changing ink, you can't print for 30 mins)
Makes dents in the paper when left alone.
Takes hours / days to change print heads or inks and start printing again.

Summary

I've had this product for 5 years. It's by far the worse product I've ever owned.

I've had this product for 5 years. It's by far the worse product I've ever owned.

After you change print heads or inks, it will take you hours and hours of printing, tinkering, printing test pages, aligning, calibration pages, wondering why on earth some ink colors are not printing (it doesn't tell you) etc. In fact I've printed maybe 2000 pages of which only 100 to 200 were actual printouts. The rest were all printer alignment, calibration etc. It just takes forever to get it to work. I should have bought the EPSON or anything else - the $2000 saved is so not worth my time. For the thousands of hours I've spent on this printer I could have gotten a second job anywhere and have paid for a better printer.

For extra fun, if you leave the printer overnight with the paper loaded, your paper ends up having visible dents in it due to the grabber holding on so tight. So the first 12 inches you print every half-day is throw-away. (I even have a special print job for that).

Even when it works perfectly, it's slow like crazy to start up. Ignore the minutes per page rating - that has nothing to do with the speed that you get out of it. If you open the print heads or ink container (which you inevitably have to do every few days because it will just randomly stop working), it will take up to 30 minutes to reset & realign itself.
