  • "Marvelous Printer with Amazing Speed"
    on by FrontierDriver28

Pros Networking capabilities, great speed and print quality

Cons Ink is pricey but worth it for quality

Summary I have worked with computer hardware a long time, from old dot matrix printers to newer laser jets. The HP 6940 is a step above everything else out there. The other users here who had problems with this printer must not have known how to use it. It requires careful setup. No need for a USB cable, just use the included ethernet cable and connect this printer to your wired or wireless router and it's ready to print away from any wireless laptop in the house. I find the print speed and quality to be amazing. Print quality is flawless and the printer prints amazingly fast. Even in fast-draft mode, text looks great and it gets the job done in moments.

  • "Do not buy"
    on by Byzerutx

Pros cheap and not worth it

Cons does not work properly and neither does customer svc.

Summary This printer would only print when it seemed like it. Another one did just about the same thing. Customer service was just as bad. First the online chat did not work properly. Then over the phone the lady said it must be a corrupted file. Which it definitely is not. It prints to all other printers fine. She completed her entire help without even asking me to open one file or try to print one page. Her answer was I could send you another one but it would probably do the same thing.

  • "Lasts longer than newer models."
    on by KTenpas21

Pros Only 2 ink cartridges to deal with. Has lasted longest out of all models of HP printers we've had.

Cons Sometimes makes loud sort of buzzing noise when you try to print (will still print after the noise stops) and when printing will start printing on one sheet, spit it out and finish printing on another sheet.

Summary In the office I work in, we currently have 3 different models of HP printers. This current model works best and we've gotten rid of most of the new model we bought because it kept having issues. Though it will make an odd noise every now and then and will start printing on one page and finish on another, I still think this is the best printer we have at a reasonable price. Plus, only one color cartridge to have to deal with and not 3 separate ones (Cyan, Magenta and Yellow).

  • "You get what you pay for"
    on by njastrzebski

Pros Gets the job done....basic printing, nothing fancy

Cons Install takes FOREVER!! I work in the IT field and have installed this printer on several computers. It is horrible how long it takes! Once you get to the part where it tells you to connect to your printer to your computer it can sit there for over an hou

    Summary Buy a different printer!

  • "Printer performs reliably and well."
    on by whidbey3

Pros I had used this printer at work, so bought it for home. Volume of printing at home is low. Color quality, speed (fast draft), overall performance--all excellent. Intuitive operation. No jams or other difficulties that some other reviewers had noted.

Cons Installation was a challenge. I struggled, then suddenly it all worked, and I never did figure out why. I attributed installation probs to my general lack of expertise, but given other people's comments perhaps it is instead an HP issue.

Summary This printer performs extremely well for me, exactly what I need in my home setting; it also did well in work setting, with heavier usage.
