"Parts break easily on color cartidge carrier" on by pyunouye

Pros: Looks great though, doesn't it?

    Cons: Bad construction

Summary: I have to echo the opinion of another reviewer regarding the broken plastic stub on the color ink cartridge carrier. This is exactly what happened in my case. It is the only thing that keeps a wire spring in place. Once it is broken the driver software will alert you to an error with the color cartridge. In my case, the exposed wire poked a hole into a piece of circuitry which rendered the printer useless. Brought down by a small piece of plastic. This is a bad investment. Buyer beware!

    "Aggravation" on by DPelligrini

    Pros: Good print quality

    Cons: Frequent warnings, paper problems

Summary: The HP 6940 print quality is very nice. On the other hand, it says it's out of ink when it isn't, out of paper when it isn't and (with card stock anyway) has constant paper jams. Type of paper is not adjustable; it's "automatic". I've owned several HP inkjet printers before/ never has any of these problems. I'm on my way to the store to look for a Canon (based on cnet recommendations). I should have checked here before buying the 6940.

"Lots of Problems" on by Lucky2aolcom

    Pros: fast when functioning

Cons: Always pulls more than one paper (even after fanning it), doesn't switch from envelope printing to regular printing because docs will print on the paper like it's an envelope (even with proper settings), loud and shakes, NOT FOR BUSINESS (even small)

"Bad costumer service - plastic part breaks easily" on by chemist91

Pros: none. The costumer service it is very bad

Cons: The plastic part that breaks easily is called "broken tab and disloged x-bias spring" and it is due to a manufacturing defect. I was told by costumer service that the printers will be replaced...so far after 10 e-mails 4 faxes still nothiing happen.

Summary: Everytime I get someone different from another country and I have to repeat the same story (too much for the total global care)...I have the feeling that they will keep it like this until my guaranty expires on december...I will never buy a product that cannot offer customer support or try to mislead you. This has been my worst experience. Be aware ...

"Defective print cartridge plastic piece" on by dayoldpoi_dotmac

Pros: Great that it works with Windows and Macs and is neteworkable

Cons: Not built well. Unless you change your ink during the warranty period and the part breaks they will not cover this known issue beyond the warranty period.

Summary: We bought 40 of these printers for our school. As the color cartridges need replacing the plastic piece holding the spring in the cartridge area is breaking on multiple printers. HP says that these printers are out of warranty and not within the serial range of the ones they are replacing out of warranty because they say they fixed the problem I'm still having the problem, but they won't replace them and have offered to replace the printers at $80 each. No way Jose!
