"HP is to hardware what Microsoft is to software. . ." on by HP_wore_me_out
Pros: Does the basics well
Cons: not truly VISTA compatible
Summary: I purchased a duplexer to accommodate automatic double-sided printing. After reading the manuals, and examining the HP website, I was not able to get the duplexer to be recognized much less function. Spent approximately an hour with HP tech support to resolve the issue only to be told "Oh, it does not work with VISTA." Worse yet, the technician could not tell me with any certainty, either if or when HP would be correcting this issue.
If HP products are not fully functional with all operating systems, the buyer should be made aware of the shortcoming before the purchase is made!
Bottom-line - it appears that HP is not concerned with anything but the sale! -
"Good features, great networking" on by Doug554
Pros: Networking and printing work well
Cons: Default install does not work properly on Windows server 2003
Summary: This is a great little printer. It does everything it claims it does.
The networking portion is easy to install.
The only issue I had was installing the software on Windows Server 2003. The software says it does not support that OS. When I attemptd to install the software on my server the installation would not continue. I simply used the manual process of installing the driver.
Installation on Windows XP and Vista work great. -
"Network printing doesn't work on all networks" on by rockyracoon44
Pros: Good print speed and quality via USB
Cons: Network Printing doesn't work on my network
Summary: I went through the installation procedure and the printer appeared on my network both wireless and via ethernet cable. However, printing on the network did not work. I spent an hour trouble shooting on my own and another hour with HP support and it doesn't work. HP support still has not resolved the issue and suspects a compatibility issue with my router. It might work on your network. It didn't on mine.

"Solid network ptr. Network setup will confuse noobs" on by ddanckaert
Pros: Network configuration, especially web interface, is excellent. Mac Driver is nice.
Cons: WinXP driver loads bloatware (which can be removed).
Summary: Bottom line: Under XP, you don't need to install the "full feature" to have network support. Provided you have fixed IP addresses for the network printer's wireless MAC (so you know what it's going to be), you can do a standard tcpip port print.
You could also do it the easy way and use Bonjour, which the printer supports.
Both of these methods do not require the "full feature" bloatware driver. -
"Printer is a work horse!" on by ITEddie1
Pros: Easy to setup and configure the refresh rate on the gui setup is fast. Security settings are HIgh. I have printed over 3000 pages and it still runs like new. Printer should be in the $500 price range!
Cons: The printer is heavy for its size but that just tells you the inside parts are very durable. Kinda reminds me of a good old sewing machine.
Summary: I like this product because The printer works! Anyone who one who is novice with computers and printers can set it up. After 3 months of use i purchased 20 of them for our company for use in executive office.
