jam jam baby

Pros: Well the hp worked with vista right off the bat with a download from hp (i bought used) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=219&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=501857&lang=en

Cons: this thing sucks jams every few min, will not take more than 20 pg's at a time with out getting a paper tray jam, feeds all the paper jamming it up if you don't put enough just a royal pain by far the worst cheap printer i have ever bought.

Review: Do not buy

Business cards? Don't waste the ink or your time

Pros: Fine on plain paper

Cons: Won't feed business card stock so as to properly align with print material

Review: I'm giving this extremely low rating based on this printer's performance with business card stock. I've wasted hours today: reformatting my image, printing practice print-outs on paper and then on the precious business card stock, all with not a single card that is usable. I'll be going to the printer downtown tomorrow to have my cards done there.

Use Plain Paper ONLY

Pros: cheap cheap cheap

Cons: can't print on card stock or labels

Review: This product is the WORST at printing on anything but plain paper. Forget card stock and labels -- it won't feed the sheet(s) right and it'll start printing above the form! I've wasted I don't know how many sheets of business card stock and label stock on this printer.

You get what you pay for!

Pros: Consistant quality and longevity

Cons: Doesn't come in black.

Review: This printer for $39 (what I paid) is with out a doubt the best deskjet printer I've ever had. The ink is cheap too. $15 for a black cartridge compared to the normal $25 or $30+ with Epsons. I bought this after going through two Epsons - both Epsons only lasted for one ink cartridge then I bought a replacement ink cartridge to find out it had bigger issues. Buy this printer if you don't need "off the chains" quality and will settle for surprising quality for not a lot of money.

Great Printer & Product

Cons: None at this time

Review: Works great on HP Compaq 6720s Laptop and with my Dell desktop computer.

Perfect printer for price point.

Pros: Inexpensive, great print quality for text and lo-res photos, Matches my iMac (white & gray).

Cons: Front loading tray doesn't hold much paper.

Review: This printer isn't getting enough love from the other reviews. This is a fantastic printer for the $79.99 I paid. I wasn't looking for a photo printer (a complete waste of money considering you can send your photos to Walgreens through their website for $.19 a print and get vastly superior quality), just a printer for text. If you are expecting a quality photo printer for this price you're a little out of touch with reality. If you have an iMac this printer will match it almost perfect. My only gripe other than the smallish paper tray is the USB port on the front for direct printing of pics. HP could have charged $10 less and left this off considering it's not a photo printer. Typical quick start and quiet operation you expect from an HP.

Great Printer - But hard to install on a SR2010NX Presario Desktop PC.

Pros: This printer works well if installed correctly on different PCs not Presario PC such as the SR2010NX.

Cons: Printer did not install first time on my Presario SR2010NX for the first and third time.

Review: I really enjoyed my printer, but this printer for the first time will cause driver conflict with Presario PC's as far as I observed. The second recovery, while everything was installed but errors out it worked well. The third recovery the "destructive recovery" meaning back to factory built settings, it failed to install again cause the so called Windows Wizard said that the driver cannot be installed cause its unknown.
Updated
I just wanted to say that I think the installation process took longer than expected. And then surprisingly it was installed when I checked the printer preferences that it was added for some weird reason. I thought it was not installed properly. I am so glad its installed. But HP, Please make a better driver software that makes it quick and easy and to verify that the computer installed it correctly Weird Installation by its about time!

Print quality is ok and then problems begin

Pros: customer support is good

Cons: printer hangs up

Review: The print quality is just ok nothing great. The problem I have with the printer is that it hangs up in the the print que ( another reviewer got it right on the money) I would have gave it a two if were not for HP's customer service, they answer e-mail very quickly. Overall I would say go with another printer unless you like frustration.

Pretty Good Printer

Pros: inexpensive printer cost, the quickest ink jet printer that i've ever used, pretty darn good picture quality, follows the KISS principle (keep it simple stupid), I didn't have any troubles setting up

Cons: I printed roughly 10 pages of text and noticed that my black print cartridge was about 10% utilized. Printing is pretty expensive - 100 pages for $20 or $0.20 per page (not including paper costs)!!!

Review: After using my printer for the first day, it seems to be a pretty good printer, but HP seems to be pretty rediculous with their ink costs. It's no surprise that most of HPs revenue is from their printers/ink cartridges.

Better than my $300 Epson

Pros: Great for Text and Photos

Cons: Have to swap cartridge for 6 color photo printing

Review: I've owned my 4160 for approxsimately 5 months and it has exceeded all of my expectations. I bought it to serve my everyday print needs, since I have a higher dollar epson for photos. The 4160 performed so well with text that I decided to try it for photos. I purchased the 99 photo cartridge and swapped it with the 98 black to achieve 6 color printing. The 4160 did such an excellent job with the photos that I decided to get rid of the more expensive Epson. I would highly recommend this printer.
