"Has same defective printer feed as Business jet 1100"
Pros: It is fast and print quality is very good.
Cons: Drivers simply do not work with XP and Win 2000 and telephone support is incompetent
Summary: I spent hours on the phone with HP India or whereever trying to get my Business jet 1100 working and even got a new printer. It never worked and printer feed was terrible. When the printer heads went out it was cheaper to buy a new one and I wassucker enough to buy another version of the same thing. The Officejet pro has the same printer malfunction as the 1100. I cannot print 20 pages without it picking up multiple pages and wasting ink, paper and time. This is really frustrating when doing mail merge. The problem on both printers is exactly the same.
There is a new problem with the K5400. I have the printer on the intranet and when using older computers with Win 2000 it will not print more than 2 pages and with XP it will print about 6. If you tell it to print 7 you will get 6 and a half pages printed and it stops. It counts 3 pages per page printed in the queue so this has to be a driver problem. I don't have a computer with Vista but I bet it works with that OS and HP is just screwing those of us that don't up grade the OS to Vista. I emailed them this time instead of fighting the accent with my hearing aid and gave them an extensive explanation of my trouble shooting. I made it plain I was using the Ethernet connection but had tried the USB and got the same malfunctions. The solution was to use the USB with a generic printer driver. Like I say ? incompetent support.
