"HP Rocks the Plain Paper"
Pros: Plain Paper Champion by a longshot. HP inkjets print bold contrast and bright color on just about anything.
Cons: HP ink smears easily and fades over time, and is not waterfast. Close examination shows details are lost in artwork or photography. HP's are definitely excellent "first glance" printers.
Summary: I've had this thing forever and I still love it. I have an Epson R800 for printing photos and art prints, and the HP is for printing on uncoated paper stocks. If you can afford two printers this is the way to go. Even older refurb HP inkjets produce amazing results on the first print. The difference is in the details. The boldness of HP printers does diminish the finer points. This is not an art printer or a professional photographer's tool. The HP colors always pop and the black is JET black even if you print on a paper grocery bag.. Epson prints by comparison look washed out on plain paper, but they can tear up some coated stock. Epson for photography, artwork and color proofing, HP for everything else.
