    "Not Worth the Money"

by shepardd on September 12, 2007

Pros: Network Connectivity Standard, Multiple Ink Cartridges

Cons: Large Size, Quality, Slow Speed, Bad Software Drivers that look to ASSIST you too much!

Summary: With over 25 years of comuting technology behind me, and favoratism's towards digital imaging this is a miserable and undesirable product.

First of all, I have never seen a printer that takes 30 to 60 minutes to setup; and wasting over 25% of all your ink cartridges. If HP is going to need this printer do to this to setup, they shouldn't require it to come out of the customer's pocket.... This should be done at thier factory... After all, a printer this size and then knowing that even before you print your first image almost 25% will be gone is disappointing...

Then when you go to print... HA Ha... Let me hold back my laughs... HP First of all modifies the printout with my VISTA pc to remove white space when you click the "borderless option"... Instead of just removing the borders and giving you more print real estate like on most, this instead manipulates the graphics in a 3 phase process before printing, abmorally enlarging your image and proning it to significant loss wihtout your knowledge... There's no way to get around this unless you use the white border option which leaves an 1/8 of an inch border...

Also when printing, HP requires a 1/4 of an inch at the last part of the page so that it can feed it out.. If you want an equivilant border, then get ready to fess up extra $$ to buy HP photo pager with that old special tear off section! What a laugh for a printer this size...

Also remember how I said it had a 3 phase printing process when you go to print an image... Well don't really expect it to be that 28 ppm like quoted form HP's site... Instead this printer will take a good amount of time to build up...

Coming from a Canon family product which I am very hapy with, look into thier series for something more usable if you want a true borderless option!
