"Lexmark diables use if you get 3rd party ink" on by Kebb
Pros: Nice photos
Cons: No Black cartridge - you buy it for $30
Summary: Lexmark is up to some nasty tricks. The printer is only $25, but they don't even give you any black ink, they mix the colors to get black...using lots of the precious ink. But if you try a #34 Black from a 3rd party clone cartridge, the software disables all printing, and you are forced to buy the expensive ink.

"I am so sorry I bought this printer." on by mcgarryrick
Pros: It only costs $25
Cons: Ink cartridges cannot be refilled.
Summary: I bought the cheapest printer they had at Walmart. It was a mistake. It seems like I sometimes only get 30 pages out of a color ink cartridge, and I have not been able to find anyone (Rapid Refill, Cartridge CIty, etc ) who can refill them. The printer seems to reject all refills, and will only acknowledge brand new cartridges from the store.
On top of all that, it cuts off the margins when I print emails from Outlook.
This is only a good printer for someone who hardly ever prints anything. -
"Excellent quality and price." on by KhosroTehrani
Pros: Extremely easy to install software. You can create print preferences and save them. Nice looking and compact. Excellent value for a printer.
Cons: None really, except that black ink must be purchased separately, and the warning on the box is really small. I found out after I was already home.
Summary: This was my first printer for home. The software was extremely easy to install. I like the fact that you can create up to 8 printing preferences and save them. For example I have created a setting for just a quick black and white print for prints that don't need to be high quality, this saves on ink. I have created a high quality B/W, a quick color, and so on. By being able to save the settings you don't have to change the preferences each time you want to print a different document. You just give the setting a name and next time you want to print you just choose that setting. Part of the set up will ask you to confirm the color quality, by printing a sample page, and you can adjust the colors.
Overall, I am extremely impressed with Lexmark. I am planning to buy the X5650 which is a 4 in 1, print, copy, scan, fax, and only $80 at a certain famous retailer (I will not name the retailer), but I will write my review about the X5650, after my purchase
In closing, if you're looking for just a printer to the job for your home or small office, no copy, no scan, no fax, then I highly recommend the Z1300. -
"great budget printer" on
Pros: low start-up cost. straight through paper feed. fast black ink printing.
Cons: does not come with black ink cartridge or USB cable
Summary: printer was purchased at Wal-Mart for $28. missing black cartridge and USB cable is understandable at this price.
we purchased the printer as a cheap, quick solution for invoice printing and occasional envelope printing. works perfect for what we do and the ink usage is very controllable. -
"nice budget printer" on by yprtb
Pros: fast, easy set up, cheap ink.
Cons: hidden cost of connection cable $20.00
Summary: This is a great quality printer, its fast, durable, and has low cost ink. There is however a hidden cost: you must buy a high speed usb cable to attach the printer to the computer. Its not included with the printer. Other then that, its a cheap, easy to use printer and worth every penny.
