"Fast, full featured and affordable, cheap ink is available"
Pros: Fast, excellent photo quality, cheap ink, good print driver
Cons: Software package isn't that Great {no Adobe software}, bread box looking
Summary: The text quality is nearly laser like. Even in draft mode the text is very clear with no feathering and it's very fast at 22 ppm.
I use good paper very bright at 106, paper quality is always essential to every printer on the market today.
Auto duplexing is very useful and can save a lot of paper for reports since it prints on both sides.
Two paper feeders are essiential with the different paper today. I put regular paper in the top feeder and photo paper in the bottom. The bottom feeder is great and easy to use for all kinds of different paper.
The PictBridge is going to be uninversal so having it is standard. Most new camera's have this feature.
Auto-off saves power and wear and tear, I have it set for 15 minutes this is great cause I usually forget to turn the printer off.
INK: High Quality ink can be purchased for $3-4 dollars per tank and the print quality appears 99% as good as OEM.
The Look of the printer is not as pretty as the HP printers which have a lot of flash going for them. The Canon's bread box look may not appeal to people but it does function very well and has features that the HP does not. It also a lot cheaper when it comes to refilling the ink. HP's cost a small fortune to run.
PS: My old Canon bubble jet 2000 is still alive and kicking after 5 years of use that's Canon reliablity.Updated
Direct CD/DVD printing can be enabled with a simple mod.

I think these have been disconintued recently. If you can find one and need a fairly Fast, VERY good quality all-round printer for less than $80...GET THIS ONE.
The rebate may even still be available.
I got one a few weeks ago. I needed a printer for somewhat to regular use to print mainly color presentations (clip art, etc) and pictures on standard ink-jet paper(usually not photo paper) for illustration purposes.
Well...for such a cheap price...I was not sure what to expect...but...the printer had multiple color tanks and the Canon name....so I got one from a place I new I could return it, if necessary.
Well....this little printer does a GREAT job. Fast....WHISPER quiet...and Great quailty. I used the included sample photo paper to print a photo on the highest quality...just to see...and it was STUNNING. So if I do ever need to print a photo for the wall this one can handle it.
However, if you are wanting mainly a PHOTO printer...to get pics you'd get from a lab...go with the IP4000. It is specifically a photo printer with a extra color tank.
This model also uses Ink tanks that are in MANY Canon lines...so the ink will be around for a long time.
To restate in summary....if my uses fit your needs...get this printer if you can still find it. Since it is discontinued, you may be able to find a SUPER closeout deal somewhere WITH the rebate.
Happy Hunting!
Hope this helps.
