My final straw with Lexmark.

Pros: The only pro I could possibly think of is the versatility with media such as the SD, MMC, xD, and MS going into one slot, CF compatibility, and PictBridge. Other than that, there is nothing else.

Cons: Slow, low-quality scanner. Made with cheap plastic parts. Cartridges last about a week with average home document printing. MANY mechanical problems. Inpenetrible when it comes time for repair.

Review: Please hear me out. This is not how I normally review anything, but I tried with all the honesty in my heart to find one good thing about this printer/scanner/copier. I couldn't. This printer is a paperweight at best. It was cool to have in my little room for easy hookup to the laptop, and I used it sparingly. But at a time where I was really looking to use it, it plunked out on me, just like every other Lexmark printer I've owned (this is my 5th one in the past 7 years).

I worked as a salesman for OfficeMax and specialized in selling Lexmark printers. Being a good salesman, I had to highlight all the pros that Lexmark told me to highlight. I've talked to Lexmark reps, went to Lexmark meetings, and looked at demos which honestly impressed me. But in actuality, the X3470 was my final Lexmark that I was suckered into and no salesman in the world could any longer convince me to buy another one. All Lexmarks, the X3470 DEFINITELY being no exception, are pure garbage.

If you've already ooh'ed and ahh'ed at the first few prints of this printer, don't be quick to give this printer a high rating (which I believe most of these reviews are "first impression" reviews). In a matter of months, you'll start experiencing mechanical problems, Lexmark's major con. It will start right around when your [limited] warranty is up.

Tonight, I tore out my hair trying to fix one problem, and one problem turned into 4 other completely separate problems. Don't believe me? It started that a cheap plastic piece that tells the printer that the cover is open came loose and it took me an hour to get it back on thanks to the impenetrable cheap plastic casing (which you either want to leave be or easily break off). After fixing the plastic piece, the paper wouldn't feed into the printer. Upon attempting to fix this (which I haven't), the scanner is broken. Gets stuck when trying to reset. Upon attempting to fix that, it's no longer recognizing a cartridge. And among all that, I restart the printer and it's stuck on "3400 series" on the LCD. This printer came from the pits of hell, and I'm about to send it back!

After talking to some people more printer savvy (which I myself am pretty printer savvy), they have experienced the same thing with similar Lexmark models. The X3470 is just part of the garbage mold that is heaping up around Lexmark.

Other stuff specifically about the X3470 I will go over quickly:
- Subpar print quality. Not horrible, but not great. Grainy pictures on highest quality.
- Horrible copy mode. Very grainy on highest quality. Slow on quickest quality.
- Slow scanner.
- Lexmark software for PC takes up a lot of resources. Tray icon is required and unremovable for printer communication. Would be a painstaking install for beginners.
- This thing is covered in cheap plastic parts. I have so many broken off plastic fragments lying around my desk from this printer.

I will never buy another Lexmark as long as I live. I've already been through 2 "revolutionary changes" of printer series from Lexmark, and it all proves to be the same stuff. The same poor design, the same cheap flimsy plastic quality, the same image quality, the same poky movement, the same mechanical issues in its short little life. I can't even trust the so called "improved" new models, which the X3470 was said to be a revolutionary improvement over previous models.

This printer is, by definition, "abysmal" however I'm not that superficial. A 2/10 is pretty generous in my book. If you're looking for an economic all-in-one, PLEASE keep looking. The X3470 is not worth throwing away one red cent.

feature rich but mechanical problems

Pros: one ink cartridge, support fo multiple card slots

Cons: lacks blk&white only prints option, paper does not align properly

Review: i bought this printer 6 months ago, worked fine till last week.good things abt it are - support for diff cards like SD,MMC etc, good value in terms of pages/cartridge,simple menu.print, copy and scan quality is good.

drawbacks:
1.it does not allow you to take b/w only print.
2.everytime i power it on,it prompts me to print 'alignment page' which i had to 'cancel'.

THE PROBLEM: a week back,it suddenly started giving an error:Cover Open on the display.it does NOT allow you to power off nor you can operate anything else on it.

i went through the knowledge base, saw the 'common error' and tried to resolve but it does not work out.to my surprise, the customer support through phone/email is suspended for this model.when i had a chat with the customer support, they gave me some more instructions to resolve the error which did not work out and finally concluded that they's send me a NEW PRINTER !

the intresting part is that,my cousin who bought the same printer along with me ALSO had the same problem with this.

so,it looks like this is a known issue with this printer !

i must admit that customer support is good in responding.

This printer is crap! Won't feed paper or anything.

Pros: There are none if you can't even use it.

Cons: Paper ALWAYS jams, won't feed at all.

Review: This printer is absolutely worthless. Wal Mart will not even accept back, must send to factory, which won't accept either! 60 bucks thrown away! Do not buy!

great price, compact size

Pros: low$$, single cartridge to change, does everything!

Cons: black prints are kinda flat

Review: I bought this printer almost a month ago and it has been a great little worker. It has a decent print speed and color prints come our looking quit nice. Black prints are a bit 'flat' looking because it combines the 3 colors to make a faux black to print with. The cartridge is only about $20 to replace. Scanner works very well and this little gem has allready paid for itself. I still need to try doing photo prints but after doing one on regular paper I'm fairly sure that prints on photo paper will come out ok. I'm still trying to figure out how to scan multiple pages into one document. All in all, for the price this printer rocks!

A Very Bad Printer

Pros: Easy to install; printer, scanner, copier all in one

Cons: Poorly made, shoddy performance, no black ink (!?!), ink cartridge is $20 but only lasts for about 75-100 pages

Review: I hate this printer. There is no black-ink setting so if you want to print text on white paper, you end up with a green-ish black, which, even on the highest quality setup, is not very dark. The printer often sucks up the page it just printed out, thus crumpling that page and screwing up your next page. When it sucks in a new page, it often inserts it crookedly (even if you had aligned it perfectly to begin with). The ink cartridges are $20 each, but they run out about every 75-100 pages or so. The machine itself is made of very cheap plastic that looks and feels as though it will fall apart upon the slightest provocation (particularly if you end up throwing it against the wall, which is what I feel like doing right now). Don't waste your time, money, or energy on this piece of garbage.
