"Way too much other stuff" on by desidude
Pros: Web cam is somewhat stable
Cons: I just want to chat and not be bothered by popups and advertisements. This has alot of other stuff you dont really need if you just need the bacis of text messageing.
Summary: Compaired to AIM and Yahoo Messenger, it crashes much more often and has more advertisements than others. I use gaim as my primary messenger and has been working great for me. I still prefere it over the new msn 7.

"MSN ties in Hotmail accounts" on by stupid_browner
Pros: Works seemlessly with current Hotmail accounts, smaller than many other IMs
Cons: Doesn't work with other email accounts and is very commerical
Summary: Although MSN is a very corporate company, the seemlessness between messenger and hotmail is a huge asset.

"MSN is always thinking of its own interests rather than the customer's" on by Cassady
Pros: MSN Messenger has links to MSN Hotmail
Cons: bombards you with too much advertising
Summary: MSN has consistently offered alternatives that are not as good and seem to be directed toward benefiting Microsoft rather than benefiting their users. The interface is unattractive. And it only directs you back to Microsoft's second-rate services. Microsoft is incomprehensible to me. They seem to be eternally resentful of their customers and convinced that they cannot win a fair fight in any arena despite all of their billions, which may be true. Microsoft is the most eternally pessimistic corporation I know of.
