The good: Free; supports voice chat and Webcam; includes configurable tools that make Messenger very versatile.
The bad: No convenient e-mail technical support; oversize interface.
The bottom line: The best and most versatile free IM client we reviewed, if you can do without e-mail tech support.
In just a few minutes, the Yahoo Messenger installer walked us through the free account registration process and also set up a toolbar button within Internet Explorer for easy access. The sleek, attractive Yahoo Messenger 6.0 interface itself is somewhat larger than those of other clients we looked at but much cleaner and better organized than AIM's. The interface is customizable with a variety of color schemes, making it much more like ICQ.

"Excellent Voice and Video Conferencing capabilities." By tomf_182
Pros Voice/Video conference excellent, easy transmittal of pictures, lots of features.
Cons Occassional drop outs in video conferencing. Takes a while to figure out how all the various features work.
Summary Great Video and Voice conferencing. Use it weekly with 4 friends and the quality is typically excellent. With the new beta pictures can be easily shared via simple drag and drop into the messenger window. Also, the new PC-PC phone calling works well and the ability to leave voice messages ...
