  • "Very Reliable and Durable SATA HDD. Recommended!"
    on by B3tonyc

Pros I had this hard drive since 2009. I constantly save huge data files, average of 2GB. This hard drive has performed flawlessly with my custom build PC. I constantly use my computer system to do some heavy duty stuff for hours on end.

Cons After three years constant use, the drive crashed, as of 12/14/2011
Overall it performed very well. RIP HDD and my DATA!! You will be missed!

Summary Depending on how much use and abuse you put on the drive, it should last a fairly quite a while. I recommend, in order to extend the hard drive's life, make sure that you have proper ventilation on your enclosure (tower). Also in order to take full advantage of the speeds, check that your mother board support high speed data transfers via SATA ports. It worked great on my custom built system running with an Intel i5, ASUS mother board. All and All, I recommend this drive, you won't be disappointed. I replaced this hard drive as of today with a Western Digital 1.5 TB Caviar Green SATA Intellipower 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Desktop Hard Drive WD15EARS. I was not able to replace it with the same model because HDD prices are going higher after the recent events in the Asian region. Three years ago, I purchased this hard drive for $100 bucks, now they are going for an average of $165, all the way up to $277! Get them while they are still cheap!

    Pros Fast and quiet

    Cons Reliability issues

Summary I am a long-term (since 1993) WD user and was terribly disappointed with WD's 1TB drive's "quality control."

I have two of these WD 1TB. The first I bought went south after 3 months. Its replacement lasted about 5 weeks. I am on the third now. The second drive that I bought in early January is still OK.

SMART error trashed the first. Read-write error trashed the second; the third seems OK. Use the WD bootable diagnostic disk BEFORE putting data on it and let it burn-in for several days.

Third world tech support needs to take an ESL course.

  • "Best Drive in the market"
    on by Stoly Vanilla

Pros Quiet, very fast and did I mention quiet

Cons nonem this drive is amazing

Summary My 750GB Seagate sounded like a blender comapred to this one. I will keep on buying these as long as they make them,

  • "Amazing hard drive, bar none for 1TB"
    on by countedshade

Pros Beautiful Hard drive, it's fast, quite, and compatible, faster than my older drive, and OF COURSE the size

Cons the only thing that i have noticed is that it gets a tad warmer than some of my other drives

Summary The drive is flawless, it's fast and provides a ton of storage, i haven't had a single problem with it.
